This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Do NOT listen to the haters! If you were a fan of the original, chances are good you will enjoy this movie! I was eagerly awaiting this movie as soon as I first heard about it. The fact that it went straight to Amazon Prime was a bonus (I'm a Prime member).

It did not disappoint! Yes people will say it's nothing like the original...true enough...but really how many sequels are better than the original huh? This movie has the right amount of nostalgia blended with entertaining new material and new characters. Yes the plot isn't super deep...but I found it quite hilarious. As in the 1st movie...there were also several spectacular African-themed dance numbers. While this movie might be better titled "Coming to Africa"...it doesn't have quite the name recognition. The movie only spends like 10 mins in America, the rest being in Zamunda. Jaffe Joffer us dead and Akeem is now king. He has 3 lovely daughters. Unfortunately the law of the land says a male must inherit the throne. In comes the bastard son from Queens that he's never heard of before. And this is where most of the fun begins. Some haters have complained it's got too much "wokeness". Nonsense! I'm a centrist myself and did not find the "too much wokeness" some haters are whining about. Perhaps they can't stand the idea that...SPOILER.........................................after all the trouble of finding his bastard son in America and bringing him to Africa, King Akeem eventually decides to change the centuries-old law of succession and makes his eldest daughter the official heir. And ain't nothing wrong with that.… Expand
