Even the climax has a savage predictability to it — everyone but the characters on screen can see it coming. Netflixable? Not so much.
Around the halfway mark, Desolation stops making sense altogether and spins off into the realm of free-form absurdity.
It wants to be a commentary on the depravity of Hollywood and what people find entertaining, but instead it mostly just mirrors the media's habit of using sexual trauma as a plot device and surviving such horrors as a character trait.
