Chalk suffers overall from a lack of subtlety, as problems abruptly get thrust into the foreground with little buildup or internal consistency.
Slight and sweet with a bit of a paunch in the middle, Drawing With Chalk resembles the aging would-be rock stars at its center.
Screaming "vanity project" from every hackneyed frame, Drawing With Chalk is yet another example of midlife American males doing all they can to avoid acting their age.
