It accomplished what few of its peers have been able to do: make me believe in a teenage romance, actually remember the confusion of growing up and feel satisfied with an ending that points to an open-book future.
While Hello, Goodbye, and Everything in Between boasts a solid premise (Who doesn’t want to see two charismatic teens embark on a breakup date?) there is no way in hell anyone could sit down and not predict how the thing is going to play out.

Vale como um despretencioso romance, com cenas mornas, porém, com um casal que realmente tem química, e isso foi crucial para tornar o filme mais palatável.
A proposta é muito simples: um relacionamento com data certa para acabar devido os jovens terem planos profissionais em cidades diferentes. Com isso, o roteiro acertadamente banca a proposta: apresenta-os de forma fofa e cria vários planos mostrando os 10 meses deles até o fim, cabendo ao último encontro explorar mais a relação e revisitar pontos importantes da história dos dois.
Os personagens foram muito bem caracterizados e são bem simpáticos, o que deixa a identificação com o público alvo mais certeira. Não há tempo para aprofundamento, e mesmo contando com algumas cenas corridas, a direção poderia até mesmo prolongar ou adentrar em certos temas mais reflexivos, como a questão da escolha.
Mas a proposta do filme é fazer chorar, fica irritante às vezes, mas pelo casal vale à pena a conferida. Nunca é demais lembrar que é um filme feito para o público jovem, poderia sim ser mais ousado, mas está bem adequado, não há excessos, inclusive não há infantilização também.

For those viewers aged out of the movie’s intended demographic, that quandary isn’t as compelling as the evidence of its lead actors’ talents, as well as that of the nimble actors who play their besties, Stella (Ayo Edebiri) and Scotty (Nico Hiraga).
While the film is romantic and poignant in parts, the whole thing falls apart when it relies on the central couple, who lack intense chemistry and substance.
The fast-paced dialogue and mature-but-wholesome humor creates a general aura of clever high school rapport, aided by a lively supporting performance from comedian Ayo Edebiri (“Big Mouth”). But in trying to be everything in between, the movie ends up being not much of anything.
Even though this Netflix original doesn’t condescend to its targeted teen audience, it fails to surmount basic issues dealing with narrative credulity and the outcome’s predictability.
It’s hampered by an execution that’s flat, fussy and self-conscious. Only the most hopeless romantic will be able to invest in these characters for very long.

Netflix flushes out another incapable and makes him direct another rom-com about an imbecile couple of high schoolers. Does anyone remember Lucas' masterpiece (the only one), "American Graffiti", where the focus was on dozens of teenagers so much so that it became choral and generational?
