Cuoco and Davidson make for an endearingly offbeat, magnetic pairing; the two actors are up to the challenge of playing different shades within their respective characters.

Great setup, great characters, great costumes/locations, great atmosphere overall, but the script is a mess. Had great potential.

If you don’t stress over the logistics of time travel and are willing to appreciate the “deeper meanings” that are on full display, then check out this beautifully shot love letter to the messiness of New York City and life itself.
The formula is obviously full of potential, which explains why writers keep returning to it, from “50 First Dates” to the recent Andy Samberg movie “Palm Springs.” Yet the concept is also fraught with peril.
The romantic fantasies and the time travel plotting of “Meet Cute” are a total mismatch.
As hard as Cuoco and Davidson try at chemistry – and Cuoco, at least, seems to be really trying – this umpteenth spin on the Groundhog Day time loop is more irksome than endearing, cutesy than actually cute, a downward spiral of uncomfortably performed neuroticism that devolves into a borderline indefensible ending.
There aren’t any clever moments, just a parade of clichés you’ve seen in many other indie romances.
It's hard to feel good about a story that basically borders on the extremes of a situation that you're clearly forcing to make it work, even if you think that's romantic.
I don't know, maybe I just don't like the idea of a woman trying to muscle you into becoming what she wants. Her perfect man.
Understanding and being aware of the clichés of the genre doesn't mean you're doing anything intelligent about them. As much as you might think so.
And with Kaley Cuoco who I watch and can only distinguish Penny from The Big Bang Theory and a Pete Davidson who I can't figure out how he gets leading roles, Meet Cute bored me too soon.

Há inúmeros filmes falando sobre voltar ao tempo, e certamente é uma ideia que sempre pode render sacadas interessantes, uma vez que permite mudar a ordem dos acontecimentos e por isso navegar em rumos desconhecidos e inesperados. E é impressionante que, em "Meet Cute", nada dessa possibilidade é aproveitada a contento.
O filme já começa com a mocinha num bar tentando uma aproximação ao futuro pretendente, e é nítida a abordagem meio que evasiva dela (eu se fosse ele já teria fugido na hora). Então além do problema de química, crucial para o roteiro de um filme que se pretende de romance, temos ainda algo meio desbalanceado, com o rapaz adotando uma personalidade mais calma e intimista e ela sempre mais efusiva. Ok, poderia ao mesmo ser um detalhe, já que opostos também podem se apaixonar. Da abordagem no bar, ambos saem para jantar e aproveitar a noite, num roteiro cuja trilha irá se repetir à exaustão, pois ela confessa a ele ser uma viajante do tempo e estar revivendo aquele momento mais uma vez (segundo ela, a máquina do tempo permite voltar ao tempo e reviver 24h de um dia). E aí o filme derrapa de vez.
Temos praticamente dois terços do filme nesse looping, ela voltando esse dia e tentando terminar bem, sem que ele tivesse um susto pelo ocorrido. O grande problema aqui é que a protagonista é muito desmiolada, ela sempre tenta a mesma abordagem, ou o que é pior, ela vai se entediando da sua abordagem para conquistá-lo, e esse tédio vai contaminando inclusive a nós, meros telespectadores.
Quando finalmente o filme sai um pouco do looping para mostrar uma mudança mais dinâmica nas cenas, dessa vez ele voltando ao tempo para tentar consertar os traumas dela e com isso, quem sabe, apostarem no futuro, ao menos aí o filme sai do marasmo mas é muito pouco.
Para completar, a cena pós-crédito mais parecem cenas deletadas dos primeiros encontros deles (pasmem, foram preciso mais de 300 encontros daquele dia para que fluísse algo), o que faz com que oscilássemos entre a percepção infantilóide da protagonista ou de quanto ela era estúpida mesmo.
Ainda assim, o filme tem cenas ridículas, como o fato dela sempre matar atropelada a sua versão (!) ao retornar ao tempo. Ou seja, é pra assistir a tudo sem muita pretensão, sem qualquer gota de entusiasmo, jogando-se ao roteiro sem um mínimo de cérebro, que aí talvez funcione. Talvez.
