A far better prospect than even the most ardent Predator fan could have wished for.
As Naru, a smart, skilled young woman who would rather be hunting than gathering, Midthunder is mesmerizing—capable in the crunchy fight scenes (especially a single-take standoff between her and a handful of Frenchmen), but also in the ways her eyes are always watching, consuming every detail about the way the Predator works and the weapons it uses.

Honestly one of the best predator movies since the original. I love the fact that the predator actually matched his weaponry to what he was facing. something that you dont see in most predator movies now a days. The predatory was always supposed to match his weapons to what he was hunting. I also love the re imagining of the weapon set for an earlier breed of predator then what we have seen. It was a bit lazy that they didn't to to this in comanache so lose of points for that. I give it a 10/10 Just to balance out the trolls that give 0/10. I actually give it closer to a 7.5/10.

For his part, Trachtenberg has resolved how to give the Yautja its due. Best post-Arnie Predator variant? Undoubtedly. Best Predator movie per se? Tough call, but trust this: Prey gets the job done.
A satisfying and briskly paced blend of creative carnage, strong visual effects and well-conceived action sequences.
Director Dan Trachtenberg delivers gripping suspense sequences, complete with agreeably gruesome kills, which juxtapose the landscape’s rugged beauty with this extraterrestrial hunter’s brute savagery. Amber Midthunder gives this sometimes cheesy affair welcome grit, staring down the Predator with compelling ferocity.
Director Dan Trachtenberg (“10 Cloverfield Lane” and TV’s “The Boys”) makes great use of locations (Alberta, Canada) and the film’s set-piece fights. Screenwriter Patrick Aison sticks to the “Predator” basics for the alien hunter, and creates some wonderfully visceral scenes that try to reason out how bow and arrow, hatchet and woodlore skills might be used against a super-sized/super-powered foe.
Prey proves to be an apropos title, as the film is cowed by John McTiernan’s original Predator.
I have nothing to complain about this movie. I love watching it. It's kind of a pet movie for me now. I like putting it on every other day or so just so to watch some scenes while doing other stuff, leaving it on the background. The predator is awesome. Photography is awesome. Ambientation/ localization is awesome. Main characters are awesome. They feel well fleshed out even though not many have screentime.
No woke content at all. Vilifing whites doesn't come out as woke, since it's historically acurate, female main character isn't overpowered just for being a woman. In fact her weakness is used in her favor, and they acknoledge that giving her a proper character arc. She gives her best to become who she wants, she fails, she keeps fighting, she gets afraid, gets overwhelmed, but as every good main hero-ish character, she overcomes her chalenges and comes out bigger.
She's small, human and credible. She's not strong, but that doesn't stop her from being quick-witted and a natural warrior or leader. Her strength is in her personality and her presence. She's smart, and this movie is beaultiful to watch.
The music also has smart decisions, using tribal concepts and components alongside technologiical and electronic sounds. Even the predator's mask matches this setup. Everything is very cohesive.

I am not sure why this movie was made. The first half is slow, plodding and boring. The second half is filled with blood, mayhem and gore. I got this DVD last week after reading a positive review a few months back. Even the worst Predator movie is better than this. This movie did not need to be made. Cheers.

This is the best sequel to Predator (1987) since Predator 2 (1990) but that isn’t a great compliment. There are some truly outstanding and excellent moments and this is an original take on the idea. There are also plenty of ridiculous moments that you have to suffer through. The whole stupid CGI animal bits are painful. You think the predator is going to attack but it’s just a silly animal and this happens more than once. The worst bit was balancing on the tree opposite a CGI lion or whatever it was. Painful and silly. But the chaos of the predator battling with humans in the mass brawl scene is excellent. Overall I loved the concept but the pacing and silliness drag down what could have been much more entertaining.

If not for the review score i wouldn't have watched this movie, this is really dumb like the female protagonist was unrealistically more powerful than the predator and all men lost the fight with the predator except her some small teenage girl was able to cut and maneuver the predator!!! Or eating some flowers and the predator cant detect her body temperature!!! LOL
the direction was great but everything else was too dull like the conversation and story and characters.
So do not believe the hype this is just another letdown for the franchise, just watch the one with Arnold and forget about this one its a waste of time.
