PVT CHAT is a thoroughly modern romantic comedy exploring isolation and loneliness that is equally inspired by Paul Schraeder’s American Gigolo as it is The Apartment. . . Hozie and Fox bring an unparalleled sexiness and authenticity to the kink sequences, an especially impressive feat given that the majority of them take place through computer screens.
The same ragtag energy which propels it can occasionally become distracting, and there are sequences in the script which feel gratuitous. However, its independent spirit shines through gloriously, reminding the viewer that, really, a decent story and some talented actors is all that’s required to make a movie.

PVT CHAT portrays modern pornography, internet, and technology junkies in a startlingly true manner. One of the few films I've seen that addresses these contemporary topics. explores novel ideas. yet it manages to be lighthearted and humorous at the same time. However, it is undoubtedly not suitable for everyone. Other reviewers express disappointment since they believe it to be erotica. It is definitely not. Excellent cinematography is used. To provide the impression that you are watching the entire video through a webcam, it was shot with a fish eye lens. it blends very well. Movies made prior to Uncut Gems and COVID.

This reminds you so much of a Soderbergh meets a Safdie Bros film that involves virtual sex and gentrification. And the whole idea behind PVT Chat perfectly describes how relatable when it comes to finding love through an erotic website with compromise.

Ben Hozie’s wry, observational film positions a young man’s repressed sexual paranoia as a reflection of a more general social malaise.
PVT Chat is a nasty, unflinching, discomfitingly watchable experiment that, if nothing else, proves once again that Julia Fox should be in all the movies, all the time.
Visceral and uncompromising in its vision, PVT Chat etches a gritty portrait of eroticism in the digital age with great nuance and authenticity.
There are flashes of interest, and even some welcome screwball elements, but PVT Chat doesn't coalesce in a meaningful way.
The stakes built from and acted upon Jack and Scarlet’s tenuous relationship are simply rendered empty once love seemingly erases their existence.
It basically amounts to a male recluse's fantasy, but manages to treat its two leads with more humanity than one might expect from that. It has an interesting premise, and pushes it as far as realism allows. The leads' performances were good. The film left me with somewhat positive feelings for the characters, but exacerbated my feelings of loneliness moderately (CW for lonely people) .
