With a PG-rated humor that parents can enjoy too, Secret Headquarters feels like the movie equivalent of the fun uncle who speaks to you like an adult, but also drives a mean Mario Kart.
Secret Headquarters is aimed squarely at young adults, takes a leaf from the 'Spy Kids' franchise, and is never less than engaging when affectionately leaning into genre cliches without trying too hard.

I have to admit, this movie really got me baffled. There are good parts and there are also bad parts. The visual effects and action are outstanding and could entertain some action-film fans out there, but the story is kind of meh in my opinion. It has an uneven tone and divisive humor, but if you like the movie you like it. I didn't love the movie, but I didn't hate the movie either. There are a lot of movies where I don't know if I have a opinion on it or not.

Owen Wilson stars as a dad who's not around much because he happens to be a secret superhero. But this is really Walker Scobell's movie. His impressive debut was opposite Ryan Reynolds in The Adam Project. At his young age, he's already demonstrating charisma and comic chops. When dad leaves town for an emergency rescue, son invites his close friends to party, where they stumble upon the titular location full of cool stuff. Of course, there's a greedy corporate giant out to weaponize the tech (Michael Peña, providing an amusing villain). Although adults play into the story, this really revolves around the group of young teens, so expect some relationship drama too. Overall, there's sufficient energy, cool visuals and plucky characters to make it enjoyable for the intended young audience.

Aided by an excellent young cast, Secret Headquarters is a fun adventure for all ages, even if certain elements feel superficial in the end.
With less pedestrian writing, there might have been some genuine uplift in the outcome of a family reinforcing its bonds while taking on future missions as a unified team. But Secret Headquarters is mostly just meh.
Secret Headquarters is uneven but consistently lively. There are moments of real wit (when was the last time you saw a movie use Pig Latin?), though not enough to compensate for the fairly tired, somewhat confused action sequences.
It’s a violent, noisy, slangy and pricey superhero movie that’s for fankids, not fanboys or fangirls or the lactose intolerant. Talk about cheesy.
Secret Headquarters is as bland and forgettable as its title would suggest. It’s so generic, it almost sounds like the name of a better movie translated awkwardly from another language into its simplest terms in English.
Secret Headquarters is the epitome of why studios are backing down from making 'half baked' movies geared towards streaming. You can see that with a higher budget and a more polish, this film would be a pretty decent flick. Alas, it is not to be and the film seemed to be shot on 1 soundstage, with some outdoor shots thrown in.

A Disney-style film, for the whole family, must unite parents and children, it is the founding rule of marketing here perfectly respected. If, in addition to that of "Iron Man", you breathe an air of "Stranger Things", it is because here too there is the delirium of kids with technical-scientific ultra-skills (in the 5th episode of the first season, they talk to Professor Clarke of multiverse of Everett III).

Secret Headquarters is a shameless display of how to take advantage **** commercial boom, but without making the slightest effort to make it more than just another generic piece of crap that's not even funny and it doesn't make it very clear for whom it's aimed, although I think it's pretty clear that those who can assimilate it more easily will be kids between the ages of 6 and 12. Just take a look at the poster. This is Spy Kids level stuff.
