If anything, this film is a cautionary tale for those who clamour for the driverless car.
A possessed-car film that beat Christine by a few years but is a much inferior version. [02 Feb 1993, p.3C]
A demonic limo, driverless behind its tinted windows, vrooms around killing people in this squashy horror that fails to match other vehicular creepies like Christine and Duel. [24 Sep 1999, p.20]
It is, in short, sub-par as demon-possessed-car movies go, even if watching Brolin attempt to act horrified at the sight of a classic automobile makes it almost worthwhile.
Good score, OK crash sequences, and lots of unintentional laughs are the only reasons to sit through this movie.
There's no telling how many sounder, wittier scripts, including stories in the same genre, might have been overlooked or rejected in order to waste time and resources on this feeble in-house imitation.
The performances are terrible—thin and overwrought in the manner of actors trying to improvise without an idea in their heads.
