The Old Ways might have continued along a path of deception and naïve beliefs and have survived on its bleak and irreverent humour, but director Alender steers the film from dark to darker. I'm not a fan of movies that try to cheaply gross you out and shock you because they can't create a genuine horror atmosphere.
And this one struggles a lot with that because it's unable to build it intelligently. Especially since you don't care about any of the characters.

Yes, it's true, it tries to show "the old ways" but that's pretty much an overworked resource that fortunately, at least manages not to resort to "Catholicism/Christianity'' in order to expel the demon." 'Cause like she said: She's a **** Bruja.… Expand
