Cara Williams

Biography: Born Bernice Kamiat, she began acting onstage in childhood, and by her teens she was in Hollywood as a voice-over actress for cartoons. Signed by Fox in 1942, she went on to play both dramatic and comic supporting roles and occasional leads, remaining busy through the late '50s; after 1959 her screen work was sporadic. For her work in The Defiant Ones (1958) she received an Oscar nomination. She has also done much work on TV, including starring in her own comedy series, The Cara Williams Show. From 1952 to 59 she was married to actor John Barrymore Jr.
