Charles Barton

Biography: A vaudeville and film actor, Barton worked as a prop boy for James Cruze and eventually became an assistant director to William A. Wellman. By the mid 1930s he was directing his own films, which ranged from westerns and crime films to comedy. He helmed eight Abbott and Costello films in the 1940s, most notably The Time Of Their Lives (Barton's first A&C effort), Abbott And Costello Meet Frankenstein, and Africa Screams; he also helmed the duo's final effort, Dance With Me, Henry.
