It's a clever, funny hour that's written in rhyme with imaginative songs threaded throughout.
Sentiment- and story-wise, How Murray Saved Christmas is all over the place, but its joke-telling abilities live up to the shiniest lines on its creators’ resumes.
Ultimately, though, it all feels a bit more clever on the page than the screen, and the music becomes too much of a good thing, given its ubiquity.
Despite chuckles here and there, the special's sensibility will probably hold more appeal for viewers closer to Murray's age than the boys and girls looking for something to watch and re-watch.
