Most impressively, Vikings captures the grim reality of these times and the limitations of these characters--barbarous, superstitious creatures that they are--in a manner that draws one into their world without necessarily evoking sympathy for it. And even the ostensible good guys, like Ragnar, are prone to do very bad things, without making them any less watchable.
Without doubt one of the most beautifully filmed shows in recent time. Every shot is artistically stunning. Love the characters. Deserves a far better user score than 5's!
Whilst the journey of the main characters remains interesting, the plot and pace is all over the pace. The newer threads seem to lead nowhere and Ragnars sons are irritating
To be honest Season 4 is probably not one of the better ones of the show. The first part of the season wasn't that good but they make it up in the second part. It's brave to see what they have done with the story of some characters in the show. I couldn't predicted what happend to them and that deserves a thumps up from me.
The only thing obvious from Critic Reviews score is that Variety and Boston Globe reviews are written by bots or lazy or overworked critics that obviously didn't watch the show.
I loved the first two seasons and felt that season 3 was a bit lacking. The new season is all over the place though. I get that the story needs to spread out and incorporate new characters (and time jumps) to further the story but its just getting ridiculous. The new central narrative focuses on all the new characters and very little on the original cast.
