Many criticize this fourth installment of the series without any valid reason, I can assure you that Paper Mario Sticker Star is more than a great video game; It is a true masterpiece with a fantastic cast of characters and an epic battle system! A beautiful comedy and unique music. I recommended it to all my friends and they loved it.
As someone who has played quite a bit of Super Paper Mario, and has begun playing the first two Paper Marios, I can understand why many people dislike this game, as, yes, it is almost, if not totally completely lacking in a compelling story or unique characters, locales, & races. And I will admit, the combat is not as well designed as previous installments. In spite of all of this, I can't help but admit that I do enjoy this game a bit. The visuals are quite nice, if bland in terms of uniqueness, I can get a chuckle every now and then from the dialogue, and it was quite fun to collect the stickers. While I will admit that it is far from perfect, overall, sticker star is a bit **** pleasure game of mine.
One of the most overhated games on the internet, but to be fair it is the weakest Paper Mario games (though I haven't played Color Splash). Isn't horrible by any means, but don't go in expecting a proper RPG. Music is great.
most of the game is boring and inoffensive, plus theres some parts of this game that are outright frustrating. combat **** too, you get rewarded more from running away from fights than actually doing them, coins are plentiful and have basically no purpose. There is some good here though: I REALLY like the OST and visual style of it, plus the animations for things are really nice and filled with personality. the writing is good too, when it happens (as in just individual characters and not the actual story, the story ****). overall: dont play it, listen to the ost on youtube or something, maybe watch an LP of it. a lot of this game are ideas that sound good on paper but are horrible in execution though. i think its completely wrong to call this game soulless though.
as a paper mario game however, this is completely awful and much much worse than games 2, 3 and 6 (i havent played 1 and 5). just dont play it
