After the last 2 gex games, I was ready for disappointment, but I was surprised. I saw such innovative ideas such as the destination wheel, and a little robot. best Gex game ever. But there is one flaw,
THIS GAME BLOWS
I'll just give this a great review to balance the Scott the Wozz fans out there.
Honestly this game is quite nice, just not the best game in the Chibi-Robo series. It's a great starting point though.
This was definitely the best Gex game since Mario Tennis Ultra-Smash. The Whiplash is really limited and the Zip-Lash is really slow but that just adds to the immersion and atmosphere plus there's a roll. 10/2 as Ghandi once said "That Chibi-Robo 3DS game is the best Gex game since Hideo Kojima's rumpus room"
never played the original chibi robo. but this game aint that bad. although the way you select levels kind of ****. like let me just chose the next level, there shouldn't be any luck involved
This is a pretty fun game! There's a small learning curve to it, but once you get the controls down it's plenty of fun. It's very much like a normal platform game, but it offers unique game play. Basically, you're this little robot, and you have to use an extension cord as a weapon. It acts like a whip, and it allows you to progress through all the levels. You can do crazy moves, and get power ups, and collect coins, and fight baddies. However, it's not all action. There's also a small puzzle element to this game that makes it more challenging. If you're into casual games this will be something you'll like.
However! There is one annoying feature that I just don't understand. What's with the spinning wheel that randomly places you in levels? I want to make progress. I don't want to do levels that I've already done. You know, I think this is what made people not like this game. It's a small "feature" but is a real nuisance.
+ Bosses get progressively more interesting+ Plug and cord make for a great weapon mechanic+ Power-ups are pretty fun~ Levels are long~ Chibi Robo effectively leaves his roots- Constant pop up dialogue ruins pacing- Animations constantly get reused to seemingly extend game- Toys are just selling products instead of being an actual character- Roulette for levels makes no sense- Can't actually skip levels- Game doesn't tell you to save Moolah for final boss- Game requires to replay every level AT LEAST twice to complete it
This game really blows as it's the game that pretty much killed any chance for a real Chibi-Robo game. The Original on GCN was really wacky, fun, and creative. This game to me represents the creative bankruptcy that Nintendo experienced throughout 2015-2016. Ruined what could have been a great franchise.
SummaryIn this side-scrolling game, Chibi-Robo uses his plug and cord to whip enemies, grapple onto ledges, and swing across chasms. Power-up the plug and cord to search for collectables and explore previously out of reach areas.
