Oct 24, 2016Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 is everything a sequel should be. It builds on the strengths of the original with its stylish visuals, tight controls and a fluid combat engine that reminds me of how I felt when I was playing some of my favorite 2D platformers in the past. If not for the low degree of challenge and obnoxious Amiibo addition, it could’ve been a perfect game.

Sep 29, 2016Azure Striker Gunvolt 2's levels play things a little close to the chest, but the sheer breadth of tactics opened up by the inclusion of Copen make it even easier to recommend than its predecessor. It's a jolly old platforming time, and I hope it reaches the level of success it was destined to hit.

Nintendo Force MagazineNov 7, 2016If you've not experienced the Azure Striker Gunvolt series yet, this second installment is a terrific place to start. [Issue #24 – November/December 2016, p.20S]

Oct 12, 2016Those looking for something fresh, an interesting story, or an action game to play in bite-sized pieces on the go may want to think twice.

CD-ActionJan 12, 2017If I had to sum up Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 in as few words as possible, I would call it a safe sequel. [13/2016, p.82]

Nov 7, 2016Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 follows in the footsteps of its predecessor all too well for its own sake, insofar as it's often difficult to point out any outstanding differences between the two. This is not necessarily a handicap, as the sequel is a quality action platformer that features an exquisite visual environment and fine-tuned gameplay.

Sep 29, 2016If you really dug Azure Striker Gunvolt, you can rest assured that its sequel is essentially the same game. The Copen campaign keeps things fresh and even though the level design squanders his abilities, he’s fun to play as. For those who, like me, were hoping that Gunvolt 2 would sweeten the pot a little bit, prepare for disappointment.
