Soccer meets strategy and the RPG style of turns, attacks and reactions to the elements. Different, addictive and very interesting, it's perfect for small amounts of time. But lots of them, like in the bus.
If you're fan of the anime, Captain Tsubasa: Dream Team has got everything: special techniques, powerful shots and so on. What a pity the experiences become very repetitive very quickly.
After 1 year of playing the game I thought it would be good to give my point of view.
First of all I am a fan of the series, yet I will try my opinion to be neutral.
The game itself is very similar to early captain tsubasa games of NES and SNES. The field is seen with the faces of the players and when characters touch they engage in a match, where each one chooses their tactics. Animation are quite well done, although not as beautiful as other games such as Grand Chase or Epic Seven. Maybe with Luna engine the developers would do something close to playing anime. There aer some key differences such as the way you get players is through Banners (roulette).
Now, the pros and cons, from my perspective.
Pros:
1. Beautiful animation.
2. Active community. Federations let you meet new friends.
3. Engaging PvP/
4. Active developer.
5. Interesting new PvP content such as Federation Battles.
6. Fairly good customer service when you write to them.
7. New player friendly.
Cons.
1. Gacha game (I consider negative the use of casino elements in a game)
2. To be competitive you need either amazing luck or to invest quite a bit of money.
3. Lots of cheaters: People using Mods, not only in PvE but also in PvP. Developers should be more active banning people.
4. Farming is not interesting at all.
5. PvE is really bad, except for the cut scenes related to the manga.
6. History of Lack of Quality control potentially leaves lots of bugs in the game.
7. Expensive currency to get new players (Some people say it is OK comparing it with the industry average.
8. Strange development decisions such as leaving certain items to be exploited by cheaters (SSR balls) or including weather conditions (In such incomplete way).
To be honest the reasons I keep playing the game are my friends within the federation and the amazing community around the series. I must confess the game itself is quite addictive and a time sink, not to mention sometimes quite frustrating. If you decide to play it, do it responsibly.
Captain Tsubasa: Dream Team is a pleasant diversion for everyone that is (or was) a fan of the series, and an adequate adaptation of the franchise on smartphones and tablets.
Captain Tsubasa fans will definitely enjoy this title, although micro transactions are far from honest. Considering you can download it for free, I think at least it's worth a try.
Good fun, could improve.
The animation feels like the show, moves, shots, saves, tackles, everything. You get to watch the match as it unfolds and it also feels like the show with lots of dribbles and long shots.
You have a campaign that has all the matches of the show and they improve in difficulty, but you never feel challenged at all playing the campaign so you can finish it almost immediately, the PvP is not in real-time so winning is easier, and to grind for items you must play the matches again, but you HAVE TO WATCH THEM, even if put it on auto, you still have to wait for the game, and it gets so boring, so fast.
Worst gacha game ever. If you look back to 2017 when they started and with Russia's World Cup on 2018 a couple months after its release, they had offline modes, points and you could even get characters with their original kits (with brands such as Adidas, Nike, Umbro, Puma, etc.).
Today on 2023? You get charged for a... dribble for only one player. And around 40 US dollars.
Pure greed, no respect for the fanbase and 0 possibilities of even being capable of playing online since you need to spend no less than 200 US dollars per week to stay "up to date" with the rest.
Just awful. Stay away from it unless you're a sheikh.
