Die Young is an escape simulator. Exploration is its strength along with the constant fear of being hunted down and not knowing where to hide. There are several technical problems (to be solved quickly) and some aspects of the gameplay are not perfectly calibrated, but if you can look past there is a good indie game.
It is amazing game, not bugged or anything !!! It is very imaginative and diverse. Very good explorational game, fighting isn't annoying like in the forest, althought it could be better. Blocks doesn't work well and you have to heal up a lot. It is basically survival exploration game. You go with friends on vacation on island and start in the well kidnaped and you slowly have to unravel story. It is epic !
Very smart level design, didn't seen that well designed game long time. It is like a maze and every location is diffrent. I strongly recommend this game. Looks like an Arma 3 and it runs on highest details on old computer !
Die Young is not only a survival game. Its an action-adventure with its very own kind of playing style. The strong focus on parkour, free-climbing and above all exploring and discovering little secrets and secret places are much more than a normal survival game. And these areas are the big strengths of this game.
If you like discovering an unknown, dangerous world and looking into the last corner and exploring their secrets, you will most likely find a lot of entertainment in Die Young. Pure survival fans might be surprised by this game with its otherness and that might possibly deter them. I personally really liked the mix.
Even though I would have liked a slightly better combat mechanics.
But this would have shifted the focus of the game away from sneaking and skillful dodging to beating and shooting, presumably this is not exactly what the Devs wanted.
The world is beautiful and interesting, the story exciting. It awakens in me the desire to continue to research and uncover the secrets of the cult on the island.
9/10
I really like this game, exploring and discovering things and feeling like an acrobat.
I found it mostly fun but sometimes frustrating when you have to do a lot of climbing.
I would class it as survival light as survival elements are very limited, it's very easy to stay hydrated.
What would kill me most is running out of stamina when climbing and falling or missing a jump. So death from falling was my biggest killer.
Enemies are relatively easy to avoid or kill.
The game runs well, it loads fast on a SSD and had no crashing at all.
I hated how difficult bosses are to beat. I found it impossible as combat is terrible. I was only able to defeat the Executioner by using a rock throwing glitch. I was not able to dodge his blows and he is able to kill you in 2 hits. I gave up on the horde and the last boss as it's too frustrating.
I would recommend this game to those who love exploring as don't get it if you're expecting it to be much of a survival game or if good combat is important to you.
But overall I can't recommend it myself as some things are way too difficult.
Die Young
Fun until it isn’t
Die Young is an about 8 hour long open world escape simulator where you play as a girl trying to escape this strange and terrifying island.
After playing Die Young Prologue I was nervous that his would be the same type of game, and I’m so pleased to say that it isn’t, Die Young fixes the balance issues I had with the prologue, there’s health regeneration opportunities everywhere.. enemies are spread out… and it feels like a completely different game, however that isn’t to say that its without its issues
The gameplay consists of you surviving and completing task after task to set up an escape
There are difficulty settings here so if you’re not a fan of games that make you constantly find water sources, you can play on one of two easier modes… which is what I did to make the game more enjoyable to me…
I started out actually loving this game... it’s so full of mystery and intrigue, you want to explore every area that catches your eyes for documents and items… I wasn’t even paying attention to the main quest for the first couple of hours…
but when I was over exploring I was like okay let me do what the game actually wants me to do… and this is when the seams of die young start to fall apart…
The quest structure if Die Young’s biggest downfall….
at first I liked it… I’d make tons of progress then I would get to a spot where I needed a key to progress… so I have to go to another area to get it... I get there and nope you need to learn recipe and craft an item to progress… so now I need to go find a recipe, craft an item, run back, get the key, then go all the way back to the door I was trying to unlock…
This was mildly annoying but whatever… after running around cliffs and jumping and falling and dying and searching for over an hr., I finally find the recipe…
only to find that I’m stuck in a game breaking glitch… I can’t craft… the crafting system is not available on my game… after playing around with setting I found that changing my difficulty back to survival would bring it back, so for the rest of the night Anytime I needed to craft something I’d have to go into the menu and go back and forth between difficulties… I went to bed then woke up the next day to play and this bug was somehow fixed, not sure what happened but I could now craft on the difficulty I was playing on…. I could finally upgrade the annoying inventory slots that don’t stack consumables….
so I continue the game more and then what do you know... another spot where I have to back track and go on a wild goose hunt to proceed…
and this is where I become just over the game….
This is Die Young’s greatest downfall… traversal is such a daunting task, that it’s a slap to the players face after all of the traversing and climbing you’ve just done to be like before you go ahead you now have to back track and find an item necessary to continue….
The climbing and platforming just isn’t fun here… its risky, it can cost you your life and progress , I’ve done enough climbing and searching and backtracking let me just move on.
I feel like getting to this place is enough of a challenge, don’t make me now have to do the thing I just did to get where I am now, go get this, but this needs this to get that, go get that then come back to get this to do that.
I’m over it.
Die Young’s world pulled me in with its mysterious world, it filled me with intrigue to explore all on my own... but it pushed me away with its constant forcing me to explore…
Die Young is still a very solid game for those into searching every crack and crevasse, but in terms of delivering an experience that’s going to stick with you rather than annoying you and make you roll your eyes for dare trying to stick with the story, this isn’t it
I give die young
a 6.5/10
By the middle of this game, it was like a 10/7 game. Later it got so bad. It's as if they abandoned the game and handed it over to someone else and didn't give them a budget. Let me write the good things first. The track mechanics are generally good. In some cases, it doesn't hold on unnecessarily, etc. The exploration elements are nice. Graphics and optimization are not bad. Language translation is not bad at all. But let's get to the bad parts. First of all, the game has too many bugs. It crashes a lot, arrows shot etc. get stuck in the animation, some items purchased do not arrive, etc. On the other hand, it is not clear when the game will end. What I mean is, because they don't tell you, when you get to the final boss, you realize there are side quests left, but you can't go. The final boss has ridiculous difficulty. A stupidly designed episode. If it wasn't for that boss, the game would have increased by 2 points. It takes away all the fun. The explanations at the end of the game etc. are very inadequate and more information should have been given. There are many other bad aspects. Unfortunately, the game had great potential but they wasted it terribly.
nothing special, i played it as far as you could get in the alpha, i think _ climbing is infurating, the survival aspect isnt really there, you just sprint away from dogs
