In the end, Dying: Reborn VR could have been a fairly okay product if it weren’t so harshly abridged. It’s a good enough VR experience, but without a coherent story to back it all up, it amounts to nothing more than a paid demo. If you're new to PlayStation VR, there are much better ways to spend your money and time.
Even if the voice acting sucks, even if the puzzles are blatantly obvious, I think there's a massive gulf between bad and unspeakably terrible. In fact, for the simple reason the game is completely playable, you could possibly even argue that Dying: Reborn (non-PSVR) edition is profoundly mediocre. That's not enough to make it worth checking out by any means, but it also means that the game doesn't really deserve the title of "Worst Game of 2017" quite yet.

It’s not super scary, but is pretty atmospheric, but it’s really more of a room escape puzzle game with a horror theme than a horror game, so I was OK with not being scared… but I was glad they didn’t resort to lots of cheap jump scares and stuff to just try and make it scary for no reason.

Dying: Reborn PSVR has some fun puzzles to solve, but it’s far too short on substance to recommend to anyone. By carving out sections of the non-VR game, Oasis Games has created something a little like the game’s disturbing fish-headed protagonist; a hollow Frankenstein’s monster, brought to life with left overs. PSVR players deserve better.
Despite this generous clutch of problems, there is an odd charm to the game. Its schlock is part of its allure, and each time I loaded the game, I felt as though I was returning to a well-thumbed piece of pulp horror trash or sliding an old VHS B-movie slasher into the machine – its cheap ghouls awash with scan lines. I found myself smirking way more than I was frustrated, but I can’t in good conscience say it’s worth picking up outside of the bargain bin you’d find the films it takes its cues from.
With a lot more polish and focus on making VR a primary component of the game, DYING: Reborn VR could have been a great room escape experience for the platform. Instead it feels like its a hasty cash grab intended to capitalize on VR hype by being sold as a separate, pared down experience and not adapting the full extent of DYING: Reborn.
On a system bursting with great horror games, you can safely side-step Dying: Reborn. While we appreciate the attempt, the production values just aren't in place to create the tension that's intended here, and even though there are a couple of decent puzzles on display, there's not enough meat on this murder mystery's bones to make it worth the price of admission.
There was a real opportunity for DYING: Reborn to shine on virtual reality, but the end result feels like a cruel joke.
Come on guys, this is not a horror survival game like RE7, they are not in the same genre. It's not fair to compare this title to other big titles like REs, If you see this DYING game as a pure puzzle game with a creepy vibe, I think you will find this game done its job well. Although this game doesn't do anything that impresses me, but it is a okay game after all.

Standard Edition: 7/10 It's refreshing to play an escape room style game on the ps4 since there are virtually none. This one is generally well done. It has a good, immersive horror atmosphere. It's kind of on the cheesy side but that makes it more fun than a straight out horror experience. The puzzles nicely ramp up in difficulty. They are challenging and rewarding when you figure out the solution. There was only one puzzle that really frustrated me. Also, there are some bugs that cause the game to freeze up towards the end of the game that were annoying, but only happened a couple of times. Overall, I enjoyed my time with this game and had fun.
VR Version: 1/10 The VR version of the game is extremely poor compared to the standard version.
I got the bundle pack so the combined avg. score is 4/10

Dying Reborn takes a page out of saws book…
Except this game is a lot more painful.
But not as painful as the voice acting here…
Its one of those so bad that its good things..
You play as Mathew who wakes up wondering where Shirley is…
So with the help of a fish headed guide you set out to find her…
This is a point and click puzzle quote unquote horror game…
Its more of a psychological horror than it is a scare fest..
0 jump scares.. not spooky at all…
its just search around 6 different rooms for items.. combine them and use it on other items, and once you trigger the main event a cutscene triggers and you go on to the next room…
The story here is alright.. I saw the ending coming a mile away.. but the confirmation of my assumptions was worth making it to the end for…
The games only about 2 hours long and is essentially a guaranteed platinum trophy, so it has that going for it too…
The gameplay though not so much…
Besides the kitchen level, none of these levels felt interesting, they all seemed pretty typical and generic as did the puzzles used here…
nothing you havnt seen 1 million times in every other puzzle game…
Buy this game for its easy platinum trophy,
if you don’t care about trophies, then nah

Visually it looks like a poor imitation of itself, as lighting and image quality pale in comparison to the regular version, and the gameplay isn’t enhanced in the slightest. Throw in the fact that it just ends before any of the plot gets explained, and you have one of the biggest wastes of money on the system. The fact that this game made it to the PlayStation Store is truly an embarrassment for all parties involved.

The game is terrible. The story makes no sense, lacks any content, puzzles are frustrating, voice acting is laughable, and while the atmosphere is not terrible, is certainly not great. Also, I especially hate the part where during loading screens, instead of saying "loading", is "loaDYING". Haha, yeah, f*ck this game. In fact, never buy any of Oasis Games'...well, games. First Koi, then Pixel Gear and Ace Banana, then the horrendous Weeping Doll, now this. I'm truly surprised that thse games won nominations in China because in reality, all of their games ranges from mediocre to terrible, and I doubt Oasis Games will stop anytime soon.
Oh, and I forgot to mention that the VR version is shorter than the console version. Yep. Good work, Oasis Games. You guys are literally making Bandai Namco look like Rockstar Games.
Ignore the positive user scores (especially Zaudstorm's), because even at a lower price, the game is better off being avoid. You want some actual good horror games on the PS4? Get RE7, Outlast, Soma, Amnesia, Evil Within, Until Dawn, or, one of my favorites, Little Nightmares.
