Just like a visit to the carnival, even though it wasn’t the greatest experience ever, I haven’t ended a day playing Elyon feeling like I had a bad time. The bigger question for me is how long this carnival can last? We’re only a month past launch, and if you aren’t online for the daily reset, finding a group to run dungeons with can be difficult. The same can be said about finding a match for the various types of PvP. The fewer players there are, the harder it will be to turn a profit, so it won’t be long before the financials start to dictate what items go into the cash shop. And when that happens, the player base will shrink even further. So I guess I’ll keep on riding this roller coaster until it breaks down. Aaaaand, it’s gone!
An amalgam of ideas taken from other mmorpgs that leave Elyon with no identity of his own, absurd design decisions, problems, gameplay limitations and abusive randomness.
It had a bad reputation before, but the update has made it much better. The attitude to improve in the future has been announced and we can expect it.
The service has ended in Western countries, but you can play in Japan and South Korea.
You need to upgrade your PC to some extent. The video card does not have to be a high-end product, CPU performance is important. If these conditions are met, the game world will be light and beautiful. There are various types of quests, from those that can be completed by one person to those that can be completed by a clan.
Stiff melee combat for some classes. Ranged flows well though.
Using systems from the dark ages of gaming. (Gear breaking and poofing on failure)
Sketchy cash shop items.
Graphics are borderline bad.
Forced PvP (personal negative)
Overly convoluted and annoying upgrade systems. These are terrible.
It's another Korean grinder with no soul, and perched and ready for pay to win elements.
It's like BDO and Tera had a love child, but the game came out not as good as either.
This game was something I waited for.
There was a huge amount of time given for them to be able to make a game that can function well.
Right off the bat, launcher is awful, barely works.
Published by Kakaogames, one of, if not the worst publisher I have ever witnessed in the gaming industry.
The game is a re-run of TERA, skill system is the same, combat system is the same but with even more bugs and unpleasant interactions.
Lore is near insignificant and the voice over for a game such as this is awfully terrible.
Cash shop is same system as Black Desert Online, you get inventory space the same way, you get loyalty the same way. There are already ways to P2W and it is rather disgusting. PvP system is quite questionable in itself. Engine is awfully outdated and post processing forces a very annoying green tint over your screen. Why? Quests to level are awfully uninteresting, the whole time I played, there was nothing that would bring even a little bit of joy out of me. The community in itself is already awfully toxic, specially on discord.
But on that note, is there anything good about the game?
Considering how fast such games can come and go, the only fun thing in it, is that you can waste time if you literally have nothing to do but would recommend against it. This game Had potential but with the engine being this bad, content being clogged with nonsense and just in general a batch of stolen assets from already existing games, it will not live long or only people who believe in such games will play. They had several years to improve many things, yet they did not and from here, can't even say it will change, specially if Kakaogames with their awful anti-cheat will keep things in "charge".
If you are really desperately trying to find a MMORPG that is worth your time, might as well wait instead.
SummaryThe world is in turmoil - Vulpin and Ontari are at war for the control of Elyon, a portal leading to paradise, soaring high in the sky. Meanwhile, the Dark Apostles are invading Harth from another dimension through a space-time rift, their objectives still unknown.
