As a kid, I used to adore the likes of Where’s Wally? and Hidden Through Time 2: Myths and Magic fills me with those same warm and cosy feelings I had all those years ago scanning busy scenes and gleefully checking off another tough find. A perfect fit for the Nintendo Switch and a perfect game for those looking for something far more chill.
Hidden Through Time 2: Myths & Magic on the whole is an impressive game, not just as a hidden objects game, but a great game in general. There are a few issues, but these are rather minor. All in all, I had a lot of fun playing this. I loved going through the four eras, and challenged myself to find every object. The clues made it more fun to work out where everything was. If you like being creative, the Architect mode won't disappoint, as it's staggeringly detailed but not overcomplicated. Whether you're familiar with hidden objects games or new to them, Hidden Through Time 2 is a good choice.
Hidden Through Time 2: Myths & Magic simply wants players to experience ease in finding objects. Finding lost or misplaced items in our lives can feel frustrating and dire in our moments of need.
Hidden Through Time 2: Myths & Magic is fun, but some significant issues (at least on Switch) make it fall slightly short of its predecessor. It might be better to grab this one on sale or when DLC arrives (hopefully with a performance patch). Creative types might not want to wait that long.
While it may not blow anyone’s mind, Hidden Through Time 2: Myths & Magic is a serviceable hidden object game with an exception level editor.
This game does not need to be an amazing experience on par with dazzling triple-A games, it needs to be a fun, cute, and relaxing hidden object game. It is very much that. The list of things to find might seem a little short at first, but it’s remarkably devious and should keep you searching for a consistent stretch. If you see the scenes above and think “that looks like fun,” hey, you are probably going to have a good time.
