Stunningly stylish and with an irresistibly kinetic sense of motion, Kamiko is a true gem. It's a quick ride, to be sure, but gorgeous pixel-art visuals, a lush soundtrack and three very different characters with plenty of speedrunning potential make it well worth coming back to. A uniquely appealing, action-packed package for less than the price of a prayer plaque, this is an easy recommendation for any Switch owner.
Lost my damn review and can't be bothered writing it again. Great budget game with amazing music. **** colours but all the rest is great.
If you play games for story, then look elsewhere.
This game is highly polished, it feels great, and it’s fun. If that doesn’t earn it a 10, I don’t know what does.
It’s short, but it’s also *cheap*, so no problem there.
I absolutely love the colorful art style that makes up the set pieces that themselves tell a story of a forgotten post-apocalyptic world, and the soundtrack is composed of retro-inspired chiptunes.
Kamiko is an accessible and well-designed experience that will put its players frantically trying new tactics in order to finish the game as quickly as possible. This might not sound very groundbreaking but Kamiko certainly provides incentives to its players to try to complete it in a shorter time and its challenging nature means that those who pick it up will have something they can spend some fun hours with.
Kamiko costs about $4.99 and can be beaten in under an hour. Visually, it is nothing impressive or interesting... There are far better looking pixel art games out there on the Switch, such as Blaster Master Zero. The core mechanics aren't broken or anything, it is completely serviceable, but it just lacks anything of interest to make Kamiko worth any time at all.
Imagine 2D Zelda with the polish of Shovel Knight, and you get a fun, magical game that is totally worth $5. Heck, I spent 1 hour on first level alone (which had a clever boss, might I add!)
Dont list to the person below who said it's not worth $5. I think it's worth $10, and, I hope the expand and offer us more great levels. If they do, Im buying!
While Kamiko is extremely simple at its base, it's still a good game. It felt polished while I played it and it reminded me of arcade games, I could see zelda being an arcade game like this. Everything about this game is simple, from the combat to the puzzles, but the small worlds are really well done and fun to look at, plus the bosses are plenty of a challenge. For its price, the game definitely deserves a try.
Don't go into this thinking it will be astounding, amazing, spectacular, or mind - blowing. Kamiko is simply really fun, with some nice graphics, catchy soundtrack and throw in some good bosses and puzzles and we have Kamiko. The game is worth the money, and speedrunners need this game. It's a small eShop title that everyone should get, but don't compare it to the likes of Modern Zelda. That is unfair.
The combat and puzzles are very simple and repetitive which making a average player to beat this game in 1 hr.Although there are 3 character to choose from, they are not so different which making replay value near zero.
Overall a average game seriously lacking content to justify the price.
Zelda comparisons.... No just no! It does not look nor feel like zelda in any way imaginable... really come on.
This game isn't terrible and its ok for the $6.50 AUD price tag but gee its pretty thin even for six bucks. EDIT: I actually now feel more like i wasted my 6 bucks.
OMG it is not worth the 9 nintendolife gave it those guys are getting so biased these days it is shameful. 4 levels, tedious gameplay, bad controls, I died because of not being able to successfully move in a straight line and stand on a tile a few times... bad game design is just bad.
Its not a total waste of money because it seemed interesting as an action rpg if it actually was an action rpg, its really just an action hack n slash puzzler imo. And it isn't bad at that, nice music, art is ok, could have been a good action rpg, but it simply is not.
SummaryWield your weapon bestowed by the gods, and open the gates between worlds. KAMIKO is a game styled around Japanese Shinto beliefs. Fight as priestesses called "KAMIKO" and battle against demons while solving puzzles to make your way through the stages. Look no further if you are looking for an arcade action game with a twist.
