Last Train Home is a very good attempt to interpret the journey of the Czechoslovak Legion through war-torn Russia. It offers intrigue, treachery, battles and exciting events. With a focus on survival, it kept me engaged and the journey took me just over 30 hours to complete.
A title that succeeds in blending its story with the in-game narratives the player creates is a rarity and Last Train Home achieves it with aplomb. Some minor gameplay and visual stutters aside, this is a steamtrain built to withstand any hardship. Challenging combat missions, deep management gameplay and a phenomenal recreation of 1910s desolate Russia make this train worth boarding.
This game is absolutely brilliant, i haven’t enjoyed a RTS this much since Warcraft 3 and company of heroes 1, it delivers story very well and is very engaging, they nailed the atmosphere of this game, I want to thank the development team for making such an awesome game
LAST TRAIN HOME is a game that strikes at the heart of anyone interested in Czechoslovak history and the legacy of the legions. Players find themselves in the role of a member of the Czechoslovak Legions during the First World War, at the exact moment they are trying to leave a red-hot Russia on their way home. The game's graphics are breathtaking, with plenty of detail to create an authentic and immersive atmosphere. The designers have taken care to ensure that every aspect of the environment reflects the time and place where the game is set. Characters are rendered with an emphasis on emotion and development, allowing players to delve deeper into the story and feel a connection with the **** game's sound design is also top-notch. The music fits the atmosphere perfectly and the sound effects are convincing and realistic, adding to the **** game's story is engaging and full of emotional twists and turns. The writers have focused on historical accuracy while managing to add a personal dimension that makes the game interesting not only from a historical perspective, but also as an emotional experience. Players have the ability to influence the story with their decisions, which brings an element of strategic thinking to the game and increases its replayability.LAST TRAIN HOME is an excellent example of how a game can be not only entertaining but also educational. It offers not only fun, but also a glimpse into the rich history of Czechoslovakia and its legions. It's a game that deserves attention not only from history buffs, but from anyone looking for a deep and engaging gaming experience.
Overall, Last Train Home is a difficult, stressful, and wonderful experience. It is beautiful and brutal tale of perseverance and war that doubles as a strategy game. Aside from a few clunky feeling commands on the battlefield and the, easily circumvented, wait-time mechanic on the top-down map, there is really no issues with this gem. Despite the difficulty of the normal game mode, it would be a mistake to miss this train.
The incredible legionary story has received a respectable game retelling, which has managed to make just enough concessions to authenticity in favor of gameplay. [Issue#332]
Last Train Home is a deep strategy game set in a precise historical context. In addition to fighting and managing battalion and train conditions, on the way to Vladivostok you will empathise with some of the soldiers of the Legion. It is precisely this emotional component that gives something extra to Ashborne Games' complex game.
We go back in the history with Last Train Home, a brave game due to its setting and its gameplay, really difficult. It's even harder when we are on board of its great protagonist, the train. We have so many things to think about that we could forget something definitive for our route.
Last Train Home had a lot of potential thanks to a great idea. However, Ashborne Games for some reason focused not on polishing gameplay, but on silly nonsense about revolutionary Russia.
Great RTS. Interesting story, new game mechanics. Many people probably don't know this story, but that makes it all the more interesting. You will develop a personal relationship with each soldier and want to save them all. Soldiers are not just units, but above all people. Thanks Ashborne Games. This is fun and addictive strategy game after a long time.
I just love it!
Beware - a lot of Negative reviews mentioning ideology or historical inaccuracies are not really that relevant.
As a fan of Commandos, Company of Heroes, and Desperados, I enjoy this game. I like the attachment to the characters a logistics part of the game where I can prolong my gaming experience by tinkering with all the stuff ;)
A good atmospheric game, but too many non-logic problems prevent me from giving this game a higher score. It's a mixture of real-time strategy and stealth, which definitely doesn't do the game any favors. The lack of resources and some tasks force you to play stealth, but there is no stealth in this game, you can kill a person in front of other enemies, but if you manage to hide in the bushes, everyone will forget about you. I drove along the southern road and because of the battles I had too many resources, not enough space in the warehouse, so I had to throw something away all the time. Once I got a softlock on a mission, so I had to restart the mission. It was interesting to play the game, the story was interesting, but at the end they didn't tell me what my choices in the story gave me. The game is too long. Thank you for telling the historical truth about the future USSR, it was the same dictatorial regime as **** Germany. I love this kind of games but many flaws did not let me fully enjoy the game.
Gameplay is not action packed. teams you deploy don't effect the outcome very much. I was interested in the game because I am also a history masters student and studying on 1917 revolution. What I see is hate against Bolsheviks showing them as evil in a very unrealistic way. If you still want to play this game know that what you will experience is anti communist propaganda throughout the game
