A masterpiece, plain and simple. From the opening Pearl Harbor sequence, to the rain-soaked midnight raids, to the machine-gun-mounted elephant rides, Rising Sun oozes with jaw-dropping quality at every single turn.
Each iteration of the Medal of Honor series has been better than the last, and Rising Sun is no exception. It would have been nice to see EA take a few risks and break formula, but the game's a great war shooter nonetheless.
Medal of Honor Rising Sun may be the best Medal of Honor game I've ever played. I just simply love this.
Pros:
- Superb soundtrack
- Amazing missions
- Realistic approach on the Pacific Theater
- Never gets boring the gameplay and the setting is that good
- Splitscreen Co-op (little bit changes the missions to appeal co-op, which is fantastic!)
- Everything in this game is just memorable
Cons:
- The graphics are kinda outdated (well obviously, since this came out in 2003)
- The AI is sometimes dumb
- It could've been longer
10/10. Simply put, this is the best MOH ever and I'm really disappointed and sad that this game won't get any continuation, since many people didn't like this game. How can you not like this game? It's the best in the entire series.
It's not a bad game, but then again, it's not the be-all and end-all Pacific-theater FPS we expected. The primary emphasis on gloss and glamour over gameplay and challenge suggests that Rising Sun is geared more toward the tyro rather than the savant.
Besides basic online deathmatch options and a new set of PTO locales and situations for new recruit Joseph Griffin to step in and save the day, Rising Sun’s average visuals and linear-to-a-fault level design leave us just as cold as “Frontline” did a year ago.
Okay... this game is really dumb.. I mean, we have to admit it: it's really bad. But that's the point. It's so bad that it becomes so much fun xD
I just finished playing the Two-Player Campaign with a friend and we gotta say.. we had a total blast !
The game, being bad at everything, is just hillarious and ridiculously funn from every point of view. Idk what to say anymore. I could go on talking about details but I think a proper review for this game would just be a mess =)) I have to give it a 10/10 for keeping us entertained. But ofc, I wouldn't give it a 10/10 for how seriously broken it is xD
medal of honor goes abroad to the pacific theater! but a few things were left behind, medal of honor rising sun was released in 2003 for tthe ps2, xbox and gamecube systems, it was the first medal of honor game set in the pacific theater of world war 2, so where do i start? this is the black sheep of the medal of honor franchise, essentially, i have 2 versions of this game, the xbox version, and the ps2 version, while the ps2 version plays well without incident, the xbox version is packed full of bugs, mainly level areas that dont spawn, i would not reccomend the xbox version at all, but as for the game, the level design is fairly good, but some levels feel cramped and grainy, like the Guadalcanal level, the graphics are a plus, they are fairly good looking, but the one thing that lets this game down is the ai, the enemies stand out in the open and just let you shoot them, i dont know if this is for historical realism, because japanese soldiers were not afraid to die, but i have no clue, your teammates have the same problem, but they will occasionally get stuck on the scenery, also the control is nowhere near as good as medal of honor frontline, it feels slugish and stiff, and aiming accurately is an absolute chore, but one bonus over frontline, is that there is a checkpoint system, in the form of save systems spread about the levels, overall, its not a bad game, the concept could have worked, but it was just rushed out the door too quick, and all the different ports have so many things wrong with them, i wouldnt reccomend this game to anyone with a 6th gen console, its not a bad game, but, you wont get your moneys worth :(
It's a shame how this game had so much potential and yet it was thrown away. A Medal of Honor set in the Pacific theatre would have been gorgeous - but this game sank like the USS Arizona. Fortunately, the empty stomach that Rising Sun left us with was filled in Pacific Assault, the game that proved a Medal of Honor in the Pacific was a great idea.
Despite featuring a whole host of cliches, including a numerous mounted turret sections in which the bad guys only appear once you man the weapon, Medal of Honor Rising Sun could have still passed as an adequate World War II FPS back in the PlayStation 2 days. However the terrible collision detection, that see's the player failing to hit enemies despite clearly lining up the reticule, makes it all but unplayable at times.
One to avoid.
