The game becomes much more of a survival-horror title with the new available options, and if you’re new you can try both styles and decide for yourself. Otherwise, there’s really no reason to prefer the original over this remastering.
Excellent apocalyptic shooter, incredible setting and story. Just like the previous game, to have a good ending, you don't have to kill anyone. In this installment, it's even more stupid since at the end it turns into a hail of bullets.
I realise all these caveats render a scored review somewhat meaningless, so the takeaway message is this; if you've never played Last Light, you should – it's an excellent game, and you should opt for this version. If you've already played it, however, you don't need to upgrade.
If someone owns Metro: Last Light, there's absolutely no reason to buy the Redux version. Graphically its the very same game, while the DLC content and the Survival/Spartan mode are not enough to justify this new release and the 20 euros price, even with the differentiation the later offers to the gameplay. On the other hand, whoever hasn't played the original game yet, has another good reason to do it now.
It certainly rides on the coattails of 2033 Redux’s release, but it’s still incredibly fun. If anything, it’s a testament to how much fun Last Light was to begin with.
As with Metro: 2033 Redux, the gameplay, graphics and level design are stunning. Best played as a continuation of the original game, as the only thing that really changed was the story, and boy, am i impressed. After leaving such high standards, i wasn't expecting the sequel to be equally as shocking and great. The introduction of quite a bizarre friend adds a lot to the game.
As someone who has just finished the game, I was expecting a much better game than the first game. Ok, they have improved the graphics and some mechanics, but I can't say that it is too good from the first game. The script is caterpillar, so it's really bad for this level. This game is simpler. You fight with more people than in the first game. They never changed the menu and other mechanical designs of the first game. Even though it sounds good as a habit, it doesn't make you feel like you are playing a new game. These are the things I will say in general, I am a little disappointed I was expecting a more unique and new game. Unfortunately, it did not pass an average game.
Super lineal game with a disappointing story and ending.
Graphics and animations are quite bad.
Most of the game you're in stealth but not so many stealth mechanics were developed, just don't stay in the light feature. You can't move corpses, the NPCs AI is not well implemented to patrol, search, ... NPCs can see you from 1 km away, no killing animations.
The monsters are bullet sponges at the point that you doubt if you really can kill them. Even worse because some are really immortal and you never know.
No information at all about the weapons. No stats, or something to compare weapons and know wich one is better. You need to realize about the mods by sight in a small draw were you can barely differentiate a silencer from an extended cannon.
No weapon names being shown, so you don't really know what you're picking up, and some weapons are too similar to realize it.
Completely broken morale system. Having different endings based not in your decisions but in random events like listening NPCs conversations when the game doesn't teach you about this system is just stupid.
The only good point is the immersion. Small details like the lighter, compass, watch and gas mask implementation makes you feel like you're there and need to use real gadgets to do your job.
Terribly not logical in terms of plot, and in general the game world game. Shootouts are dull, the number of mutants is some kind of trash, I don’t want to do anything closer to the concept of the game, except to run through these aggressive scenery, because. they don't use anything interesting. The plot is drawn out, catchy only sometimes, and the main cherry on the cake of this plot is Artyom, apparently with mental disabilities, who cannot speak. The case in the game of impotence of the screenwriter is wildly annoying, there were moments when he definitely should speak, but he, like an amoeba, does nothing. We forgive the game for a doll that makes several sounds throughout the game. In general, this is horror, not a game. The plot is 3+, the graphics are 3-, the atmosphere is 4, the gameplay is 2.
