Neptunia ReVerse is clearly a "first-run effort" by Idea Factory to take the tools of the PlayStation 5 and see what they can do with them. It's perhaps a less ambitious effort than what Idea Factory made as its launch on PlayStation 4 (Omega Quintet), but putting that aside, this is a genuinely good game, worth the time of any JRPG fan, and by its very nature the perfect introduction to the entire series for new players with the new console. The additions that have been made here make it even more complete and also worth a replay for the Neptunia faithful. And if nothing else having an excuse to watch Neptune and the other girls run around in swimwear costumes for a few hours is always worth the investment.
If you love the fanservice and the typical demented humor that distinguishes Japanese productions, Neptunia ReVerse will be the perfect starting point to discover (or rediscover) a franchise that has now become a cult among fans of Japanese role-playing games.
Esse é meu primeiro jogo da serie Neptunia, mas com certeza não será o último. Diálogos hilários e gameplay satisfatórios. Como plus, fanservice. Bom demais.
Ponto negativo é o grinding / farming que pode ser um pouco complicado.
For newcomers to the series, Neptunia ReVerse isn't a bad starting point. The story is breezy and the overall gameplay is good, even if you have to deal with uneven difficulty. For veterans, the new fishing minigame is cute, but Arrange mode throws off the balance and isn't much of an incentive to return to the game. Overall, it isn't a bad PS5-exclusive RPG, but you might want to wait for the team to develop something new for the platform.
Compile Heart, and the Neptunia series in particular, have the kind of negative reputation that begs you to push through and find the treasure that keeps these games releasing a full decade later. Sadly, if there is a diamond in all this rough, it’s not to be found in Neptunia ReVerse. The repetitiveness of the core experience is unlikely to win over non-fans, and longtime fans will feel disappointed, if not insulted, by the lack of changes from Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1, and PlayStation 5 exclusivity proves the final nail in the coffin for this remaster in search of an audience.
Despite its strengths, Neptunia ReVerse should have been so much more. The best parts of the original continue to hold up, with a hilarious script and engaging combat. Yet, this is a remake to a fault. The game looks basic for a PS5 game while the narrative ignores the larger cast. The new features like fishing are welcomed, but aren't implemented well enough. By adding very little and doing nothing to take advantage of the new hardware, Neptune's latest ultimately feels like a missed opportunity.
Neptunia ReVerse is a title that sticks too closely to its roots to be a standout, next-gen experience. Despite the presence of a moderately entertaining gameplay loop, decent mechanics, and delightful character banter, the embarrassingly feeble graphical quality, lack of innovation for the series, and disturbingly overt reliance on old systems from a Vita remake from over half a decade ago brings this experience down more than a few notches.
I like rebirth 1, but this is a wasteful port, all these "upgrades" could have been done on Vita with the original release lol. I do love the game though, i'm just not okay with how the series has been treated since VII released. Hopefully Sister vs Sister will bring it back to the glory of these Rebirth and VII titles
Idea Factory and Compile Heart's first PlayStation 5 title plays it safe by providing fans, new and old, with a quality experience in the Neptunia franchise with updated music, gameplay modes, and music. Neptunia ReVerse is an glorified remaster of Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 1, featured previously on the PlayStation Vita and PC. Luckily, the game features a number of new characters for those stuck playing the Vita release, and offers quality of life improvements to combat system. In addition, the new Arrange Mode allows players to enjoy their favorite character from across the series at any time during the story playthrough. For those unfamiliar to the series, the Neptunia series offers a light hearted turn-based JRPG experience with characters and story elements based off of gaming consoles and manufacturers, and this game is no different. Thanks to the minor improvements, the new gameplay mode, and a release on a major home console, Neptunia ReVerse should be considered the definitive Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 1 experience, but not much more.
Neptunia ReVerse is actually a mix between Remake and Remaster of Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 1 which was released for PSVita and PC. Although Compile Heart claims that ReVerse is the definitive version that provides significant improvements in terms of visuals, combat, etc., we ourselves feel that this game still doesn't define the true "Next-Gen" quality. Even visually, this game is still less beautiful than Neptunia Virtual Stars which was released for PS4 last March. We hope that Neptunia's collaboration with Senran Kagura will bring blessings to this franchise.
