In Battlefield: Bad Company 2, the 'B' company fight their way through snowy mountaintops, dense jungles and dusty villages. With a heavy arsenal of deadly weapons and a slew of vehicles to aid them, the crew set off on their mission and they are ready to blow up, shoot down, blast through, wipe out and utterly destroy anything that gets in their way. Total destruction is the name of the game, delivered as only the DICE next generation Frostbite engine can. [Electronic Arts] Expand

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is as complete a package as you could ever ask for. Multiplayer-heavy titles can be a fickle beast, but we’re pretty sure we’ll be playing this one for quite some time to come.

The last installment in the Battlefield series offers more action and fun than ever.
  3. All in all, don’t let the rather generic and short single player campaign deter you from picking up Bad Company 2. The multiplayer is a fantastic gaming experience and without a doubt it gives Modern Warfare 2 a run for its money.
  4. For all the thrills the single-player might provide, it’s nothing compared to what’s in the game, when you go online. It’s always thrilling, memorable and a joy to be part of the fight, a fight where your contributions matter for the entire team in big ways, even if it’s not always immediately apparent.

Bad Company 2 is a great single player experience, but a near Godly multiplayer one. A must play for shooter fans, especially in the PC community.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 does what it does best: create a multiplayer experience which lifts it head and shoulders above the other shooters. All the pieces come together perfectly in an online that brings out the best of the Battlefields, with Rush as the pièce de résistance. Too bad that the sub-par singleplayer brings down the score quite a bit.

Modern Warfare plus squads and vehicles, and minus the stick up its arse. A solid multiplayer FPS. [May 2010, p.66]

While multiplayer was the best part of the game the singleplayer was also genuinely enjoyable. A bit glitchy and laggy at times but the gameplay is solid. I just wish DICE had programmed a smoother engine and not tried so hard to beat Modern Warfare. Battlefield is, at this point, the far superior series and can stand on its own merits without trying to emulate Call of Duty. Expand

This is where the real MP is. The ability to level buildings and shoot people out of cover is amazing. To the idiot who posted on 1 because of their inability to optimize. I'm running a machine with half your specs on XP DX 9 and have everything set to high at 1440 x 900 and it plays flawlessly and looks great. You probably have driver issues. The only thing that sucks is the auth servers have been bogged down since release making it hard to actually get and stay in a game as PB also kicks people liberally at the moment but that's not DICE's fault. I hate EA as a company but this is a great game, it's too bad the megacorps own everything. Expand

This is a great game, thats all there is to it! You complain about the 5 hour story... Have you played a COD game? You complain about "unloading a whole clip and not killing them, then they turn around and kill you"... Dont you think if they can hit you that maybe you just suck lol. The engine is beautiful! Graphics look 100x better than MW2 or Black Ops and if you can run it, upgrade your POS 8600. Are you serious? Most of the issues people are complaining about (disconnections, graphics, crashes, etc) are all things related to your PC, not the game. For those of us who actually know how to optimize settings and make our integrated sound card work on Windows 7 there are no crashes, great sound, great graphics, and fun game play. And no controller and Joystick support?!? LOL! Play with a mouse/keyboard like a man or you will get dominated. If you are going to play with a controller than why dont you have an xbox? And for all the b*tches who complain about the weapon and gadget unlocks. Are you serious? Every game known to man gives you the sh*t first and you get better as you play. When your a newb, you die... As you play and get better you dont. Thats like whining because you fell of your bike the first time you tried to ride it. Grow up. Everything takes practice. If I used all the very first guns of this game and no unlocks, I would still kick your a**. Dont believe the haters, the fan boys, and the morons. This game is a solid shooter with a level of intensity you cant get anywhere else. When the side of the building you are hiding in gets blown off by a tank or apache and you have to run for your life before the building collapses! Thats fun, not getting knife raped by people over and over with overpowered "perks" of other games. Oh and also, If you have ever used a knife or a gun for that matter, you dont ALWAYS hit what you are aiming at. If you miss, reload and try again. Welcome to reality. To summarize: BF:BC 2 is a console port yes, so there are some things that make it not as good as the other BF games. But most of the things people are complaining about are because they dont know what they are doing or they are 10. Amazing game, very fun, very good looking, and you cant touch leveling the entire battlefield and having tanks and BMP's roll up on you. This game is what its supposed to be, exciting and functional. The action is quick and you find yourself zipping around the battlefield riding jet skis and dune buggies. Squads are an excellent feature as well: when you die you have the option of spawning directly behind any one of your squadmates. Because of this, battles around capture points can get really messy as squads get decimated but then respawn around the survivor. I can recall many times when it seems like an endless flow of your guys and their guys are running around a single capture point. It gets really fun. However, this excellent gameplay is marred by some of the most buggy login systems ever. You have to make an EA account to play online (which is linked to your CD key to prevent key sharing) but EA's servers cannot support the server load that Bad Company 2 is obviously having. I spent so much time trying to fix the "Cannot log in" errors and the "Your account is already logged in" errors that the would-be 10/10 review is reduced to 8/10. All in all: Go for this game for the multiplayer gameplay. It's fantastically frantic and fun, typical Battlefield style, but a buggy login system takes away a lot- if you're willing to brave it, you will be rewarded. Expand

Better Graphics, Better gameplay, better It may seem a lot like COD, But its suppose to seem that way, But its better than COD in everyway. Better Graphics, Better gameplay, better sounds, It makes the COD team look like amateurs. Some people about the graphics in the game that the lowest settings are even still to high. Well the game isnt meant to be played on low end computers. If you have a computer that barely makes the minimum requirements dont bother getting the game, or wait until you become uncheap and buy a better computer, you dont have to have 2 - 3 thousand dollar computer. I only spent a little more than $500 on my computer back in nov 2009, and I still play the game on full graphics with no lag at all. So maybe you should not be so cheap like trevor and complain like a girl when you cant play. Expand

Why does everyone like this game? Sure, it has dedicated servers, but the browser limits options like not showing the IP address. The idea of Why does everyone like this game? Sure, it has dedicated servers, but the browser limits options like not showing the IP address. The idea of destructible environments is great, if only the enemies showed tactics of some kind. Everyone claims the game has excellent sound. Sorry, but some of us don't use 7.1 surround sound, and for us all the in-game sounds seem muddled. Gunshots sound terribly generic and both reloading and the ease at which you die is pathetic. The maps are too large, yes, too large. Call of Duty: World at War gave a better sense of battle tactics. Sure, it was every man for himself, but at least you didn't spend so much time walking across the map, looking for an enemy. The graphics aren't terrific for the terrible frames per second they produce on lower end machines. Running causes you to drift to the left and getting hung-up on the environment is way too common. Heck, even Modern Warfare 2 was more fun than this. I really want to like this game, it has some good "borrowed" ideas. The trouble is the execution. For instance, don't show a cutscene and sgive you control of the camera, only to fade to black. If you are going to use the in-game graphics for cutscenes, give back player control and let them continue playing. I'm pleased the developer wanted to give PC gamers a break (and for that alone they deserve a combined rating of at least 5), but after playing 100's, and I mean hundreds of PC games this particular effort justs smacks of port. In conclusion, poor optimization, poor sound, poor story, and the lack of immersion just ruin what should of been a great game. I wouldn't be so upset if I didn't want to enjoy the game as much as I do. Expand
