Even with its faults this game is a great value. Other arcade titles with fun, solid gameplay, simple controls, and this many customizable features will run you between $10-$20, but lucky you, you get Battlefield Heroes for free.
A phenomenal game ahead of its time, a custom hero-based shooter with a few distinct, balanced, classes with abilities and factions that adds to the variability. All of this with so few maps, two factions, few ability points to diversify playstyle along with unique weapons for each class. This game has a surviving project for a reason as well as a better memory in the battlefield franchise.
Battlefield Light - low hardware requirements, fast action, various characters and free of charge. You have to keep in mind the lack of maps and permanent problems with overloaded servers though. [Aug 2009]
Battlefield Heroes is a casual gamer title. All the Battlefield series hardcore gamers will find this title pretty boring and poor of contents and tactics. But it's completely free-to-play, so it worth a try from everyone.
Battlefield Heroes does quite a good job when it comes to entertaining the players for a short while, but with only a few maps and not that many weapons this "Free 2 Play" game comes a bit short. The game offers not that much diversity and if you want to spend your money on microtransactions there is mostly just new outfits to choose from.
A well-packaged, team-based, cartoon FPS and it's free (well mostly)! True casual players or hardcore gamers may not feel entirely welcome though. The main theme to the game is awesome.
Battlefield Heroes in a nutshell - Pay if you want an awesome game, don't pay if you want to watch continous killcams.
But look on the bright side - at least EA doesn't charge for bullets!
Generic free to play game with some Battlefield "magic" in it. The art style is nice, the gameplay is okay but as I've already said it's your usual "F2P - Pay to Win" game.
Battlefield is an online shooter in cartoon style. The upside of this game is that the design is rather unique and fun. But a major flaw in this game is the lack of balance in the gameplay. Firstly, EA has created so called ´´uber weapons´´, which can be purchased in the store and provide significant advantages, compared to the standard versions of the weapon. More benefits means more cost. Additionally, the game servers are somewhat feeble. Often this is not a problem. But there is nothing as annoying as lagg right when you are trying to snipe someone down. Furthermore, the game is somewhat ´´fraud-sensitive''. Cheating is the broadest sense of the word is rife throughout the whole game.
All of this contributes to the detriment of the gamer. EA has created in environment in which flaws in the game can be exploited to such an extent that ultimately you can only remain competitive through cheating and profligacy. The concept of the game was good, simple and entertaining. Unfortunately, skill has little reward in this game.
SummaryBattlefield Heroes is a brand new Play 4 Free game from the people that brought you the multi-million selling "Battlefield 1942" and "Battlefield 2"
It's a fun cartoon-style shooter which caters to players of all skill levels – easy to pick up and play, but with deep character development. [Electronic Arts]
