This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Great game of strategy, with many types of machines, to be able to defend to the Romans of the attack of the enemies. It is very entertaining.
Good "Tower Defense" with great graphics and unusual mechanics of upgrades.
We play for the Roman legionaries, who landed in Britain. Find a defense strategy and break the resistance of the Celtic and British tribes.
The prosperity of the Roman Empire depends on us. You need to find the right tactics for each mission.
The game has many opportunities to upgrade your units. All tools can be equipped with special mechanisms. And the mechanisms can be upgraded and rearranged from one gun to another.
The game has more than 60 levels. There are a lot of enemies, but few resources. You will have to defeat the surviving enemy units with manual spells. This is not a game in which you can click to rewind time and wait for all your enemies to destroy all the enemies.
"Defense of Roman Britain" - an excellent replenishment of the collection for the fans of the genre!

Does Defense of Roman Britain deserve to be chosen for playing among many other similar tower defense games? One can find some positives speaking in its favor - an attractive historical background, some original ideas like convoys, presence of quests, interesting systems of weapon upgrades, big number of enemy units types, solid economic model, challenging yet not frustrating difficulty, user friendly interface, nice graphics and… However, there are also many downsides - not very interesting story and its presentation, some enemies approach your convoy almost immediately, some shortcuts cut more than half of the path for enemies, special weapons and spells are not very effective, the game plays almost all its cards in the first few levels, so there is not much to discover later, low differences between enemy’s infantry units, unpredictability of air units’ paths, only few music tracks and the absence of dubbing. Thanks to easy accessibility and simple mechanics the game is suitable for playing with kids that can learn something about the history and develop their strategic thinking.

    Pros:
    - historical background
    - some original ideas
    - quests
    - weapon upgrades
    - number of enemy types
    - economic model
    - balanced difficulty
    - interface
    - graphics

    Cons:
    - story
    - system of convoy protection
    - too short shortcuts
    - effectivity of special weapons and spells
    - not much to discover in later levels
    - low differences between infantry units
    - unpredictability of air units' paths
    - only few music tracks
    - absence of dubbing

Defense of Roman Britain brings some refreshing ideas to the genre but most of them seems to be half-baked or unfinished. Despite all its flaws the game was still able to attract my attention for a while, so I am giving Defense of Roman Britain Thumbs Up and VideoGaming Father’s Index 6 out 10 - recommended with discount.
