Beyond Light is an incredibly strong reminder that what Bungie has been delivering to Destiny is more than an expansion-a-year live service game, but an ever-evolving, grim dark world filled with rich lore, nuanced characters, and questions yet unanswered. While the plot has a mix of missed (or purposefully delayed) opportunities with developing some characters while creating some powerful, gut-wrenchingly emotional moments with others.

One of Destiny 2’s best expansions thus far, providing an assured roadmap for the series to move into. It is just more Destiny though.

Beyond Light is approaching the quality of both Forsaken and The Taken King.

Destiny is still a great game, with an almost unmatched gunplay, but it feels like this expansion takes more than it gives. Only recommended for hardcore fans of the game.

While the new location, the plot and Stasis as a new subclass type do enhance Destiny 2, Beyond Light adds too little overall.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light is another solid expansion to the ever-evolving shooter that you know and love, but falls prey to the same content scarcity and repetitious grind it’s always had. The campaign is short, but enjoyable, and the raid is awesome enough to make the less pleasant parts of the grind worth it in the end.

Beyond Light fails at pushing Destiny 2 in a good direction. It's lacking in countless ways, from the campaign to the seasonal content, and it doesn't give you nearly enough for the price. Even the most hardcore Destiny fans will probably find plenty to dislike here, and casual players should skip this without a second thought.

However Beyond Light has been received relatively poorly. And while I can understand why people are upset about the games state I just can not, not give it a 10 out of 10 because this is my review and not someone else's. However if you are new to Destiny don't buy Beyond Light yet. It's really not a bad DLC, the story is pretty good, Stasis is a lot of fun and Europa is amazing. But I would recommend to try the free to play part of the game because maybe you don't like how Destiny feels or something and I don't know if you will be satisfied with the stuff you get for the 40 Dollars you will have to spend to get Beyond Light. But still
I have bought the Digital Deluxe Edition for 70 Dollars. And so far I have absolutely no f-ing regrets!

    *HOWEVER*

If you were hoping for a major change to how Destiny 2 works in certain areas, like its infamous grind, you may want to hold off on purchasing the expansion.

This is the worst and most boring version of Destiny yet:
Boring missions - Go somewhere, fight in a tiny area against waves of enemies, go back to quest giver. Far cry from the excellence of Red War or Forsaken.
Boring graphics - White, ice, the most bland yet
Removal of a lot of about 60% of existing paid content.
Sunsetting of gear, which Destiny players hated in D1 and Bungie promised to avoid in d2; but they have now broken that promise.
Same, 100% pointless power level grind

In short, it's $40 to lose a ton of content, to be replaced by boring and uninspired new content. And, when that new content is over (if you can even get through it--it's that boring), the end game is exactly the same as what players have already been doing for 4 years except with 60% less variety.

Gone are the days when you can expect excellent content from Bungie. Destiny is nothing more than an infinite, shallow grind now.

Worth maybe $5 for the new raid and that's it.

40$ buck for a 3 hour campaing and 1 new strike while removing all previous content from the game. Nice move Bungie.
