I've started playing Entropia recently so I wasn't entirely sure if I was qualified to write a review but my brain hurts from reading some of the negative reviews. Do not come into this game expecting to make money. I see a lot of people complaining about not making any money from this game, you have to remember this is a game made by a studio, of course it was not designed to make people money, they need profits for development and for upkeep of the servers. Yes there are people who have made money in this game but that is a small % of players. You will most likely not make money from this game nor should you expect to. That brings me to the other thing, depositing. This game doesn't hide the fact that you can purchase in-game currency for real money, if you don't like this real-money economy then this isn't the game for you, however in my humble opinion this isn't really a problem. You can deposit as much as you want to or nothing it is entirely up to you and what you want out of the game, I believe the most important thing is to have fun and enjoy yourself, maybe meet some new people. I feel like when people look at this game somehow the sense of what a game is leaves their brain and they stop understanding how video games work and that is you pay for entertainment either by buying the game or in this case buying things in the game. In fact, this is how most MMORPGs work, and I find it funny that the same crowd who is putting this game down and overlooking it because of it's real money economy plays games like BDO which has predatory microtransactions, WoW where you can also buy in game money for real money and other microtransactions, EVE Online - same thing. And you cannot even withdraw anything from these games so everything you put in stays in unlike with Entropia.
Now as for the game itself, it is really fun, you can start out by doing some of the early missions, there are a few things you can do mainly, hunting and mining. There is also trade and crafting but those two are a little more advanced. The game always has something to keep you busy, there are also PVP zones where you can battle other players, in some of these you can also loot players so make sure to keep that in mind, you can go to different planets and explore new locations, missions and activities there, there is also space where I haven't been to yet but there's a whole lot more content there as well as space stations etc. The UI is a little outdated although they have improved it over the years from what iv'e seen. You can level up professions and skills which will increase your proficiency within that particular field. So for example when you level up pistols you will be able to use them more efficiently, but there are also other skills that go into using them like aiming for example.
Overall I think that people see this game very negatively for no good reason when it isn't much different from any of the other MMORPGs on the market right now.
Entropia is an exciting game, they have improved over the years and are constantly working on making the game better. You can also invest in the game and earn like 8.5% annual return on your investments by investing in land deeds. They have an auction house on which you can trade and make real money. People should check this game out, id give it a 10 on 10 because those who like it, love it.
I played Entropia Universe for more than 12 years! That in itself says something about the longivity of this game! It has been a very entertaining and economically rewarding adventure. The game is not easy to master (warning it will take you more time than you spend in total on most other games) but if you have the patience it will give you possibilities, great experiences and a sense of accomplishment you won't find anywhere else in the gaming world. Especially suited for 'grinder' mentalities.
It's not really a game; it's a world to explore. It's beautiful and intriguing and the social aspect can be a blast. That being said, you'll start out on Calypso exploring and having fun and quickly realize to do anything significant in the game you need to spend a lot of money. Most MMO's have a subscription of $20 per month on average. In Entropia Universe everything costs money--every bullet you shoot must be bought. Every stitch of armor, clothes, gun, tool--it all costs realworld money and it DECAYS as you use it. A decect set of armor which might last you a month of playing will cost about $30. A decent gun will cost you $10 or $20 and burn out in a couple days of playing and be useless junk. Every time you pull a trigger it costs you a penny or more on average. Big beautiful world, but really nothing mroe than a giant online casino (don't fool yourself). The most disappointing aspect is--a real casino will comp you drinks, dinner and a hotel room for way less than what you spend in Entropia with no reward. If you can afford to blow $100 per month inside a video game--you'll have fun in Entropia. But, most people play for years and spend thousands only to realize there is no real reward for playing. The loot is decent for about an hour after you deposit and fades to a 50% loss on each outing after that. The loot was good once upon a time (useful items, cool guns and armor) now it's mostly crap you exchange for PEDs at terminals. There are people in this game spending $1,000 per month--it's crazy--and you'll see them "globalling" in the chat. However, you'll likely get nothing similar and be frustrated unless you deposit $1,000 or more. Let me add one more caveat!!! They brag about it being a real cash economy and that you can withdraw your money if you "need extra cash" LMFAO. They don't pay out. They take your money in realtime, but wait months (if ever) to pay your withdrawal request--and the skills you build are worth money, yes--but you need empty skill chips to sell them. Empty skill chips cost more than the skills you would put in them and they only drop as loot to big players who then control the market for them at auction. All in all a beautiful world they've created, but a **** vortex--BEWARE.
Difficult to maneuver in (movement keys/options), not similar to other games. Lost interest even before I got to the point where they started asking for money. Graphics and character creation are good! Sorry, make it a little simpler. I'm a gamer and got buried in the complicated interface.
Played this game for a few years. Deposited and skilled weekly with the mindset that the game would take a small % of the money put in. NOT THE CASE. After the 2 years of playing "Smart" , I currently have 25% of the value I deposited. Take Take **** all the game does. Takes your time, money and patience from you and all you will have left is broken hopes and money that could have been spent on something more valuable in life, like a Gym membership. ANYONE THINKING THEY CAN MAKE MONEY IN THIS GAME FROM A SMALL DEPOSIT IS CRAZY. STAY AWAY!!! MINDARK the games owners introduce little bugs and glitches that make you have constant lag spikes and disconnects. These will kill you....making you respawn and allowing the mob to regenerate which then takes more ammo (ped) to kill. Please Just stay away. I have left feeling scammed and unappreciated after I supported the company these past years. Most of my friends in game have left too.
