It’s great from start to finish and provided an incredibly consistent experience that made me want more.

It’s a very enjoyable and at times challenging experience that never feels unfair. At times, you’ll be faced with a puzzle that looks impossible, but as soon as you figure out its design, you’ll think yourself silly for not having seen it immediately.

A fun, challenging, original and well-constructed puzzle/platform game.

Hue is a well-crafted, enjoyable experience. I don't usually like physics-based platformers, but the controls are simple and responsive enough that I never felt like a death was anyone's fault but my own. Its visuals are sparse but clean, and the puzzles gave my brain a workout. It's a little brief, clocking in at four to six hours, but that just means it doesn't overstay its welcome, and it left me wanting more.

Hue is a great indie puzzle platformer with charm and character. It’s color themed mechanics work well and allow for some great puzzle platforming.

While it never gets frustratingly fiddly, you'll also rarely be seriously taxed. Despite all those colours, Hue lacks the vibrancy of the very best puzzle-platformers. [Oct 2006, p.81]

With tougher, longer puzzles and a proper storyline (or no story at all, for that matter), Hue could perhaps have clawed itself a couple more marks. As it is, it’s a passable puzzler that is priced according to its length and may serve as a light snack for puzzle and platform fans, but nothing more.

When you start the game the first thing you see is a popup that tells you that it's recommended to play with a controller. This is good advice, however, the second thing you notice is that the menuing can only be done with the analog stick.

Many things were done right in this game, but seriously this is the type of stuff you find during playtesting. That's by no means the only example for this, but I think it illustrates my point well.

The logic puzzles are creative and well made, they become reasonably hard towards the end of the game, but none require taking notes and such. In some of the later levels I was a bit unsure if my solution was the intended solution, but most levels had a clear solution.

I don't like the story that much, but I don't generally like stories which leave stuff open for interpretation, so this might just be me.

Probably 70% of the time we will be pointlessly walking around, and some puzzles have difficulty pikes I cannot understand.

Overal is still a great game, just not a 10/10.

Before I explain why I gave this game a 6, I need to tell when I review a game. I review them after I get 100% of the achievements.

The game is pretty fun and has some difficult puzzles, mechanics are simple and elegant, but 100% the game felt more like a job than playing a game. Reason is that the "Cyantific Apparatus" achievement is pain. To get the achievement you have to collect some beakers that is all over the game, and some of them you can't get in the first playthrough because you haven't collected the correct color yet. Therefore you have to play through the same puzzle game again just to get that, and puzzle games are not fun to play 2 times in a row, since you already know the answer. Also you cannot select the precise level where the beaker is, so if it is on the end of a chapter you have to play through every level just to collect a single beaker.

If it was not for that achievement I would have probably given it a 7-8/10
