The Invincible is a slow-paced, narrative driven sci-fi adventure game based on a novel of the same name. Developed by Starward Industries and published by 11 Bit Studios. You’ll be drawn into the stunning alien world and feel nostalgic for those old sci-fi movies when you see the retro-futuristic aesthetic.
You may dislike walking sims, you may have never heard of Stanisław Lem or you don’t care for his books. In all those cases The Invincible extends a hand to you. Firstly, it tries to vary the gameplay as much as possible. Secondly, it doesn’t require knowledge of the novel it draws from. Thirdly, it makes Lem’s hard sci-fi accessible even for people who are not fond of his work. Above all, The Invincible is a neatly told story, suspenseful till the very end and supported by an absolutely brilliant soundtrack.

The Invincible successfully delivers an incredibly unique and immersive sci-fi narrative based on this iconic IP. What starts as a simple rescue mission evolves into a philosophical exploration of human relationships with technology and evolution. While some NPC dialogue and confusing mission objectives detract from the immersion, I would still recommend The Invincible as a must-play game for any fan of sci-fi and narrative adventures.
Like any good walking simulator, The Invincible thrives on its story. Even though it feels similar to what the book already touches on, the differences are enough to make the game feel new and somewhat fresh, considering how many people may be approaching the game without prior knowledge of the novel. The decision to go with a walking simulator works as far as being able to effectively deliver the story, and it pays off with a gripping narrative, but some of the dialogue sections can run longer than expected. If you can live with some of the bugs that still need ironing out, you'll find this to be a fascinating experience that's well worth checking out if you're a genre fan.
Even with a few technical hiccups, checkpoint woes, and a sense that maybe going this big with such an intimate game wasn’t the best choice, The Invincible is an enjoyable experience. The Invincible is a '60s sci-fi novel brought to life that is best suited for those who love to get nerdy about hard science and love that retro sci-fi aesthetic. More casual fans will likely find plenty to enjoy with the game, but they should know that this a game about getting immersed in a world that wants to tell a story instead of the usual space-faring adventure shtick. When The Invincible gets its hooks in players, it can be a narrative experience that is thrilling, thought-provoking, and worth the ride.
The Invincible is a spectacular adaptation of Stanisław Lem's book, but it's limited in terms of what you can do in it, and the impact on the story you have.
There’s an enjoyable narrative to unravel here, if you’re willing to put up with outdated systems and monotonous traversal. But given its short run time and lack of replay value, for the price of admission, you may be better off waiting for a steep sale or even just buying the book.
I would recommend this work as it provides an immersive experience of being in an alien world. However, a drawback is that the plot is quite short, and there's no epilogue, which is unfortunate.

the successor of firewatch in my understanding, because the story develops intriguingly, the landscapes are excellent, the gameplay is minimal (the duration is even a little longer than necessary) and the most paradoxical thing (very abrupt endings)

A decent game well is more like an experience. Yes, is a walking sim and to be honest more player interaction would have made it a lot better ,perhaps some puzzles. The Story is good but the endings are like they ran out budget, not good at all.
If you like sci-fi and you like this type of games you will have a good time otherwise i wouldn't recommend it.

This game is way overhyped. It’s just a walking simulator based on a book, and the “game” part of it is severely underbaked. It feels like someone outsourced building a game to a competent developer who didn’t even remotely care what it was about, so the end result is walking extremely long distances and waiting for your character to be astonished by something that isn’t visible, if it’s even present at all, in the game itself. I don’t recommend it, but the book might be good.

Un jeu de promenade à la manière de ‘Firewatch’ (qui date déjà… un petit peu quand même) ; d’ailleurs, on les compare souvent et pour cause, même si l’invincible se déroule pour sa part sur une planète inconnue et bizarre ! de la pure science-fiction bien sûr mais façon Star Trek des années 60… (la série en carton-pâte) : c’est donc très kitsch !L’ambiance reste néanmoins intrigante et plutôt… intéressante… jusqu’à un certain point qui peut varier selon tout un chacun… à savoir le point d’endormissement de ce jeu-somnifère ! il est difficile en effet d’y résister, il faudrait être… invincible ! or, nous ne le sommes pas (invincible) et même là, maintenant, j’ai du mal à garder les yeux ouverts, car j’e viens de jouer à peu près encore une demi-heure au **** je me sens léthargique. Il va me falloir au moins trois lignes de coke pour me sortir de là ! (je vais appeler Palmade). Cela étant, je ne voudrais pas dire que le jeu -(somnifère) est mauvais : il n’est pas si vilain (surtout pour un jeu indé) bien que loin, bien loin des images qu’ils ont montré… (pipeau, pipeau…). Le post-traitement est en général très exagéré et nuit à la lisibilité globale mais bon, de toute façon, on a vu certainement bien pire ici et là, dans le genre.Mais donc, on se promène et on avance… bien que fort lentement. Et ça n’arête pas de jacter, sans doute pour qu’on reste éveillé mais je crois que c’est le contraire qui se passe… On continue d’avancer, on écoute, on regarde la carte (mal faite), ça bavarde encore… La curiosité nous pousse encore un peu, on avance, on avance, on n’a plus d’essence… (ah non, pas cette vieille chanson à la con d’Alain Souchon… ça y est, je ronfle, putain !!).La musique du jeu est du style ‘atmosphérique’ et s’avère bien agréable (par exemple)… et propice à la relaxation. Et le gros dodo. Merde, merde !! Bon, bah voilà, le jeu me fait chier maintenant et l’emmerdement est bien au dessus de la curiosité potentielle. Ah et puis, si elle pouvait arrêter de parler, de commenter la moindre de ses actions, l’hérioïne… déjà que l’autre à la radio n’arrête pas de nous parler ! ça jactait à ce point dans Firewatch ? j’en ai pas souvenir… mais enfin bon, bref… voilà quoi.
