Microtransactions and loot boxes are still there, but it is fair to say that they are not so invasive this time. Despite that, this is a sport simulator that has no rival in its genre: because of WNBA, gameplay improvements, audiovisual quality, cinematic style, depth of the modes… One more time, Visual Concepts keeps enlarging the dynasty.

NBA 2K20 is pure magic on the playground. The new physical model, the impact of the new defensive system and the fine tuning of the gameplay is something valuable which give to basketball lovers endless possibilities. On the other side, the new GM mode is very disappointing and 2K business model for MyTeam is still questionable. The good news is that microtransations are quite useless in MyCareer mode, which thanks to King James work shines again to its original beauty.

Facial animations are still odd, and monetization rears its head in practically every mode. But the core ball play, plethora of gameplay modes, and a great presentation all combine to make NBA 2K20 the basketball game to beat this year.

NBA 2K20 offers again what we saw last year and the year before that, which is a solid Basketball experience. Some minor technical issues are still here and there, which suggests that the developers are using the same core mechanics as they did previously. Maybe we need to wait for next generation of gaming devices for a completely new and fresh NBA experience.

NBA 2K20 remains a beautiful and satisfying title, but this time the loot box case heavily influences the final vote.

Overall, NBA 2K20 is still one of the best basketball games out there, but future iterations should either ease up greatly on the VC spend or drop the price significantly, so players won't have to spend extra money.

It’s a shame that the surrounding structures don’t hold up, because the in-game experience of NBA 2K20 remains top-class. Another year of refinements has smoothed out some rough edges of the basketball gameplay that was already worth seeking out. The level of control you have over shot types is both useful and entertaining. Defensive assignments feel like they work more consistently. The commentary repeats itself less. They’re great moves forward. But if you engage with the modes 2K seems to want to push most, you’ll have to deal with baggage that weighs down the experience.

This game is PERFECT!--- For ruining the lives of people with clinically diagnosed gambling addiction or poor impulse control! Hurrah!!!This game is PERFECT!--- For ruining the lives of people with clinically diagnosed gambling addiction or poor impulse control! Hurrah!!!

Want to make a family member or life partner with said afflictions even more miserable? Then buy them this game! Watch them waste their money on meaningless and randomized drivel, which are glorified and game-ified by cute graphics, fun sound effects, and amoral influencers to keep them going!!! Yay!!!

At EA, you check your morals and principles at the door, like any good employee should! Profit is King, Profit is God! Cast down your humanity and make society worse with us over at EA! Woohoo!!!

10/10 best casino game of the year!!! (The basketball bits are good too)*

*This review is absolute sarcasm this game is trash and is naught but a manifestation of the morally bankrupt gaming industry giants cashing in on gambling before governments finally regulate it because it's hurting the lives of so many people. Do not buy this game.

However the developers and their bright ideas have once again destroyed a game and made it questionable to want to play. In the past week I’ve have easily missed over 100 wide open lay ups with players like Dwight Howard, Iman Shumpert, and even Jeremy Lin. It is extremely frustrating but also an insult to those players who wouldn’t miss a wide open lay up with a blindfold on. I even missed out back open lay ups with Jordan. We all know that is a load of BS. I wouldn’t miss a wide open lay up even in a professional game. 2k will never admit it, but there is a built in lag to the game that needs addressed. It has been a part of every 2k and extremely annoying. Your PG will literally be dribbling middle of court and then there’s a lag spike and all of a sudden your guy is out of bounds. Since when do basketball players just run out of bounds for no reason. Until 2k realizes that “any player” should not be missing wide open lay ups, so this game is not worth buying. Honestly, Dwight Howard’s hands are above the basket same with Wilt and Kareem. They should not miss 5 lay up attempts in a row, let alone at all. DO NOT PAY $60 FOR THIS GAME! DO NOT PAY $30! It’s not worth it. I would wait for it to be extremely cheap on sale, or wait for it to be one of the free games on the month. The Developers need to start watching basketball or need a change of brain power in those offices. Yet, common sense isn’t so common. Expand

Clearly they haven’t aside from game mechanics, all of the modes that require VC are EXTREMELY pay to win, which is really lame as someone who isn’t going to put hundreds of dollars into some mere sports simulator. This seriously has to stop. This entire franchise has seriously gone to **** because of microtransactions, these people need to realize that they make the game less fun. Expand

But this game has become a cash cow, focused on micro transactions and virtual currency. This game is truly a disgrace on my opinion and I will never purchase another 2k game again. I hope NBA Live can make a comeback so we can have a proper basketball game again. If you are a fan of the series or even video games in general I am asking you to please boycott this game and the disgusting gambling mechanics implemented. Expand
