Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Breakpoint is an exciting game. It knows what it wants to do. It wants to give players options, it wants them to feel unshackled by design decisions that offer to gently nudge them in a direction or possibility. It wants to give a platform to four friends to cause chaos in a variety of scenarios. Breakpoint is a freeing game and it has its flaws. But, above anything, it is fun.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint tries to renew the Wildlands formula by introducing a few new elements, but it fails to deliver.

At its best, Ghost Recon Breakpoint is a taut and tactical shooter that works brilliantly in co-op and is genuinely enjoyable to play but at its heart this is just another sandbox shooter and one that doesn't meet the technical standards we're used to from Ubisoft.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint is an enormously ambitious game that is more varied and engaging than its predecessor, with a story that had us invested and a despicable villain to hate. Unfortunately, the excellent third-person shooting is often overshadowed by finicky cover mechanics and bugs. It’s still worth playing, but it will probably be a more enjoyable experience after Ubisoft has time to smooth out some of the more broken parts.

Breakpoint attempts to push the series forward but often feels stuck in the mud from its own systems.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint is a game crying out to be more straightforward, more-focused, but instead it’s added one more wafer thin gameplay mechanic after another, flying in the face of common sense, and now its bloated frame has exploded because it simply can not hold all that mess in and still function. A dull, frustrating misfire.

I really wanted to like Breakpoint. Ubisoft has a habit of making mediocre games – Assassin’s Creed, Watch Dogs – really shine with a sequel, but this is a significant step back. I would rather play Anthem – at least traversal doesn’t make me want to put my head through a window in that game.

I had a blast finishing the first earlier this year. Enjoying this one even more. Only cash store exclusives are cosmetic. There are plenty of bugs, but none have been game breaking for me. I had trouble connecting twice; On each launch day. Connection has been fine since then. Story and mission layout is a step up. New mechanics are interesting. AI is still goofy, but less annoying than before. GettIng a grasp of fluid gameplay has a learning curve, just like Wildlands. Expand

The RPG elements and looter shooter aspects of the game are not for everyone, but have certainly kept me engaged chasing gear levels and guns. Though the gear levels are more just a number and don't seem to have much effect in the end. Expand

But that's doesn't matter, because Ubisoft managed to bury that core so deep under insulting MTX, bad game design, RPG light mechanics NO ONE asked for, writing so bland and boring that I might as well listen to an audiobook while playing as well as no real optimization and bugs, so many bugs.

Weapons feel good, but since the game acts like its a looter shooter that doesn't matter. You will switch weapons out constantly. The devs also haven't figured out how to make cars and helicopters that feel realistic and control well, which amazes me, considering GTA 5 figured that out in 2013.
But at least its "fun with friends", but to be fair, everything can be fun with friends. A old and broken football can be fun with friends. Doesn't make the game good.

Oh, also, you cant play the game without an internet connection. AT ALL. Even tho you can play the game SP, great right?

In short, safe your money and buy a better game than this, its not worth it.

Expand

The gameplay and gunplay are very underwhelming. I dont understand how they downgraded from Wildlands. No AI teammates makes it feel boring and bland. The constant looter shooter mechanics are lame and definitely not needed. The game is not fun and I dont think any amount of patches or content drops will ever make it fun. Do NOT buy. Literally the worst Ghost Recon game ever. Feels so rushed and downgraded. Extremely dissatisfied. Expand
