In Oddworld: Soulstorm, you pick-up where New 'N' Tasty left off. Abe has undergone an unwanted transformation from being a clueless Mudokon cog, literally about to be chewed up by the Glukkons' big business machine, into an unlikely hero, a beacon of hope.
Abe was someone who went about his life, blind to what was happening around him, and then woke to a deeper uncomfortable reality and had no choice but to make a change. Abe may not have wanted to be a hero, but there was, and remains, some greatness in Abe. A greater purpose. A greater good. All of which got him into enormous amounts of trouble and continues to do so.
Revolutions start small and build from unexpected places. You and Abe are the beginning. In Oddworld: Soulstorm, you will begin to understand the power of many will be needed to solve problems that the individual alone cannot.
Based on the concept of Scavenger's Economy, you will loot from trash cans, pickpocket, and search through lockers for items to craft into weapons and tools to use to help save your fellow Mudokons while you try to unlock the dark secrets behind Brew.

Whether you prefer the classic Abe playstyle of sneaking and problem solving or using scavenge for what you need to create an arsenal that you can hand off to your followers that you have saved along the way, Oddworld: Soulstorm gives you more choices to replay with different approaches.
Add in light RPG elements, leader boards, trophies for completionists, and a progression system and Soulstorm sets a new standard for next-generation action adventure platformers.

Even with its issues, Oddworld: Soulstorm is, without a doubt, one of the best games released this year. Despite some weirdness in the checkpoint system, a few bugs, and a difficulty level that may be too high for some, there is no denying that the long wait has been well worth it, as the game is clearly a product of love that all fans of the series and of 2D platform games in general will like.

Oddworld: Soulstorm is a very compelling game, which veers on the verge of being an all time classic.

Returning to this world, this flavor of frustration and satisfaction, won’t be for everybody. If you’re looking for a portal into an oft-forgotten slice of gaming history, Oddworld: Soulstorm will open that for you. This is an elevated, modernized window into puzzle platformers of the recent past. A little patience and a little perseverance will introduce you to a strange new world.

Even with some technical issues and a lack of originality, Oddworld: Soulstorm is still one of the ideal games of what Abe's adventures should be. Good.

Abe's return in Oddworld Soulstorm is far from being a perfect experience but it's still an enjoyable mix of action, puzzles and platform. The game needs more polish on the I.A. side to become something special.

Oddworld: Soulstorm is a big, beautiful puzzle platformer with the spirit of Abe's adventures intact and some interesting new ideas, but it's all very quickly undone by imprecise controls, tedious level design and a shocking lack of polish. Oddworld fans will definitely want to check it out, but they may be better off waiting for a few more updates before investing their time, and even then might come away just a tad disappointed.

This flashy remake of Abe's sequel is gorgeous to look at, but it rarely captures the excitement or feeling of the Oddworld forebears.

I knew from the beginning it was going to be a different view from the original and I embrace it, with new mechanics, different levels; it catches the essence from the original games with new additions and a new course for "Exoddus". Yeah!, I would love to see the same levels designs from the original but it is what it is. Doesn't change my opinion that this game is a nice addition to the series, hoping that the future might be brighter to the franchise and also to one beloved character of VideoGames.
Sure, the game may have few bugs ( AI Clumsy) on its launching day, just have to wait for future patchs people, that's all.

I can't help but feel disappointed after waiting all this time for a sequel to New and Tasty only to find it's a step backwards in the gameplay department. If you aren't getting this for free on PS Plus I would wait for a sale (and probably some patches to fix the bugs). Expand

Movement can sometimes be quite unresponsive and the crafting system feels forced and totally unnecessary. A few levels can be quite immerse and interesting but most of the time you're forced to sneak around a lot, slowing down the game play. Only play it if you get it for free and are interested in unusual platform games. Expand

Why waste time to make this. It’s full of lagging and frame rate is dropping.
