Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel is Yu-Gi-Oh! at its best. The kid gloves have been taken off to give us a complex, deep game full of exciting plays and powerful combos, but presented in a sensible and readable way, free from Joey Wheeler shoutin' about da heart o' da cards. Whether you're a veteran duelist, a lapsed player, or someone who's had a vague interest at some point in the last 25 years, this is the way you want to get into Yu-Gi-Oh!.
Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel is an awesome game that Yu-Gi-Oh! fans, both new and old would love. I honestly would've probably given this a lower score, but they just added the option decks from YGOProDeck directly to the game. This just fixes one of the major issues of the game and warrants it a better rating. All in all, fantastic looking graphics, and it plays well. What else can you really ask from a card game?
Konami managed to make the best Yu-gi-oh adaptation to this day that will bring many surprises to both old and new players because this game isn’t the same one we used to play 15-20 years ago. The learning curve is huge and it requires a lot of time to learn all the decks currently available, so be ready for a lot of grinds.
Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel is a free to play game designed for those who have been active in the card game for years and are looking for a space to measure themselves against other duelists from around the world. It's a deep game, with over 10,000 cards and updated rules. It's also addictive and a lot of fun, but less experienced players will struggle as they adjust to competitive play.
Master Duel is the pinnacle of the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG in virtual form. It offers a ridiculous amount of tools to assist in deck customisation, and easily lets you obtain any of the thousands of cards. Where it currently falls short though is the matchmaking options, as there’s just so many variables at play from day one. This isn’t a game for new players, but it doesn’t try to be, so if you know your Blue Eyes from your Kuribo, Master Duel is for you.
By its proposal, Duel Master clearly distinguishes itself from Duel Links, the other free-to-play in the universe of Yu-Gi-Oh!. By focusing solely on the playing card game, the title offers a very complete experience with official rules and a huge collection of cards on all media thanks to cross-platform.
As with any new game, the future of this game entirely is uncertain, but this launch has made us very hopeful. Konami seemingly is keen to learn and is already doing user surveys to find any flaws in the system, and with the questions chosen it seems the team are looking at the right areas already. With some patches and more quality of life features, this game could easily become the definitive Yu-Gi-Oh! experience, but only time can tell.
Gambling simulator with miserable game play. You genuinely will waste money and time for a game that us unbalanced on purpose and people will defend it to death youtubers will attack you for speaking the truth because they have some loyalty to the developers of this game. No one seems to care that its actually gambling marketed to kids. spend money to gamble and not get what you want! They advertise something but you get something completely different.
I've been a fan of Yu-Gi-Oh for as long as I can remember. And while not perfect, Master Duel is fine. Any deck, if the player behind it is a good pilot, can climb the ranked ladder into Diamond. It also takes luck but we don't talk about that part. Just some broad points from playing the game for a year:
1.) For a game that's purely a multiplayer online battle simulator, the economy in Master Duel is above other popular online multiplayer games. 2.) Being a best of one format leads to more degenerate strategies like stun, obsessive amounts of flood gates, entries strategies dedicated to infinite negates, and ftks, that lead to some games being just plain unfun to play.
3.) The solo gates in my opinion do a fairly good job of not only teaching players all 6 of the summoning gimmicks, but also give players a insight to a number of different archetypes in solo mode so they can get an idea of what deck they would want to make in the game proper.
4.) I do wish there was more prominent modes besides ranked, the occasional festival, and maybe solo (if you squint hard enough.) Even with casual, team battles, and duel rooms, they either don't do anything to flaunt or show those modes off, or the only real enjoyment you can get is with friends.
5.) I wish there was more of an incentive to push in ranked. With the same rank up rewards you find in Bronze also being the rewards in Diamond, I feel like asides for bragging rights, Konami doesn't currently offer enough to sit down and grind on Master Duel.
Overall, like I started with earlier, this game is fine. There's things that I both like and dislike in this game. Hopefully in the future, Komoney can fix the flaws present in Master Duel to have it reach a new level of standards.
It's casual unfriendly. It's called Master Duel so if you are anything else but master I would not recommend this game. The hardcore Corean gamer will pull out unbeatable(10*, 4000atk/4000deff, spell immune, resurrect on death, spell effect, instant win) monster from the first turn with series of chain spells and monster effects and if you manage to defeat that monster he will just bring it back next turn even stronger and another one like it next to it. I did not enjoy duels not one but as casual who just want to recall some of the past yu gi oh glory :(
