Blazing Chrome is a great throwback to games such as Contra; simple run-and-guns with swarms of enemies, awesome boss fights, special weapons, and a great soundtrack to go with it. With fluid controls, multiple difficulties, and a stage select so you can pick which stage to tackle in any order, Blazing Chrome is definitely worth picking up if you’re into Contra-style games.
With Blazing Chrome you kind of get what you get: it's an hour and change shooter that pays extreme homage to the Contra series.

After the abysmal Contra: Rogue Corps, I decided to try this as it looked similar to the Contra I love and grew up with, but man, I was not expecting it to be this good. The game has been made by people who clearly know what they are doing in terms of Contra style games (which this game is inspired by), and I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for another Contra style game.

The set pieces are thrilling, and the music fits brilliantly at driving the gameplay, one example being the energetic tune for Mission 5's snow bike chase. There's even an out of the blue 3D scaling section in Mission 4, which feels like playing Space Harrier in a tunnel. The genre demands epic boss battles and Blazing Chrome delivers, as the final sixth mission stands out as one big, fantastically designed boss level.
Packing retro aesthetics and just the right amount of challenge, Blazing Chrome is the best run-and-gun in years. Though it is a bit on the short side, it perfectly encapsulates the pure kinetic energy that put the genre on the map.
If you’re into your classic shooters and don’t mind a few cheap deaths along the way, Blazing Chrome is a pulse-pounding thrillride that wears its influences proudly on its sleeve.
Blazing Chrome is an modern take on classic run and gun arcade classics. It’s difficult to ignore the strong influence Contra had on the game’s development, but either because of or in spite of this it’s still a lot of fun to play, especially on co-op. Anyone who wants something new with the classic Contra or Metal Slug style gameplay can’t go wrong with Blazing Chrome, but even though it’s a good time, it doesn’t really bring anything new to the party.
Blazing Chrome is so close to achieving what it's sets out to be – a fun retro 2D arcade shooter. There's sadly just too many issues to be overcome by the player to find the fun. If the development team are willing to put additional time into Blazing Chrome with patches and updates, then this could be well worth a punt. As it stands, Blazing Chrome is both too limited and too frustrating to recommend.
Excellent game truly bring Contra vibes.. love the graphics.. the game is super hard but a blast to play coop. Ive been playing it on share play with my buddy... frustrating yet super addictive.. you dont wanna give up.. its that good.

Konami really should have just stuck with their roots for their new Contra game, but thankfully Blazing Chrome was there to fill that Contra sized hole in the gaming heart without Konami.
The only thing missing is the the aim-locked strafing controls like they had in Contra : **** Soldier and Hard Corps : Uprising. (That function was a much needed and appreciated evolution to the run and gun genre)
Almost a perfect tribute to everyone's favorite Run and Gun

This is a great throw back to the 16 bit era. As someone whole played the old contra games extensively, I can say this game holds up well.

A grand, fun and yet unforgiving sider-scrolling shooter. This is the type of game we wanted Konami to make for YEARS. Finally, a team of contra fans and old school shooters out there band together to create a TRUE spiritual sequel to the Contra franchise. Six missions of balls to the wall action, music and design. A must have for nostalgic shooter fans of the SNES era.
