Mastering Fortnite Battle Royale’s many systems is worth every second of investment. Whether you go it alone or queue up with a squad, even if you’re the first to die or you actually manage to earn the Victory Royale, Fortnite’s zany style and unique blend of shooting and building almost never offers anything less than an outstanding time. It may not be the first battle royale game, and it certainly won’t be the last, but Fortnite sets itself apart from the crowd by giving you the freedom and tools to express your own personal playstyle.
Nobody thought Fortnite would still be popular this late on, but it's continued to adapt and fight for its spot at the top of the battle royale ladder.
This specifically is a review for Fortnite: Save the World's PC release.
I'm one of those people who have been around since 2017, and bought the game with a founder's package. I don't regret it at all. I've burned hundreds of hours on the PvE experience Save the World brings. Essentially, picture your favorite third person shooter with a tower defense. Sounds awesome, right?
Anyway, that concept was enough to get me hooked, but the sheer variety in hero and weapon builds, as well as the progression being simple but satisfying has kept me coming back.
As for the downsides, STW is a "dead" game that's very much neglected by its devs and is very frequently ridden by gameplay hindering bugs. Also, 90% of the random players you run into will be griefers, or just people who **** at the game so bad you might as well not have on your team. That hampers things quite a bit. But regardless, the aspects I love about this game have not been properly replicated by any PvE game on the market.
And in a market where a lot of mediocre games are $70, I think spending $18.50 to be able to play Save the World (As well as getting some vbucks and a skin to go with it) is a steal in today's day and age. Even without founders, I wouldn't blink to buy that package if you enjoy these kinds of PvE experiences.
Despite its junior stylings and mountain of cosmetic items, Fortnite’s combat and construction fundamentals are strong enough to sustain weeks and months of play, and as it nears final release, it’s only going to get stronger.
Fortnite incorporates mechanics of survival, crafting and missions in waves. Everything is very well measured and addictive, but there are no surprises or innovation. The microtransactions come to break the balance, and you'll have to play too many hours to see your character really improve. It's better that you wait for the free-to-play version.
The ultimate effort of the US home team is to combine the excellent experience of the third-person shooter with foundational elements of some of the most successful works of the last few years, in an effective and convincing manner, at least from the gambling point of view.
Fortnite feels a lot like Dungeon Keeper. It's a worthy game with interesting gameplay, and where everything is ruined by greedy monetization. The ripoff is less obvious than in EA's game but it's still a pain. We suggest waiting until 2018 when the game will be truly free-to-play.
Fortnite: Battle Royale is a fast-paced arcade alternative to PUBG, but it fails in the tension department. Its good fun when you play like you don’t only have one life, but that in and of itself makes it feel like an oddity that hasn’t quite found its identity yet.
Down from 5 to 4 since last update ***************Despite certain good qualities Fortnite possesses, game design is NOT one of them, let alone software engineering...( after years of playing this trash with a friend who insists he wants to play it) I have grown to loath this game, especially in reflection. Here is a list of issues I have with the game.--------------------Its bad because:-So many bugs:-balance is VERY POOR, thanks to the constant changes to dynamic: -Building adds absurd learning curve which is laborious-You are roped into buying a 'battlep[i]ss'-Forced to receive Battlestar everygame-ZERO COMMUNICATION – No text speak...-navigation UI is broken and has been since launch- The game menu is horrific...-Game balance is all over the place like none exist--------------------++++++++++++However:+The game can be fun+players in-game can be beaten(othertimes not)+The flow of the game is reasonably fun and traversing over bright landscapes, looting and exploring can be fun.
You know, I saw some guys review on this game and he's kinda right. This game **** more than people who can't follow directions. There have been several kids who have spammed the n word at me, even if they killed me. I hopped in one match hoping to get some kills and there was one kid, probably the age of 8 by the sound of his voice, constantly saying slurs at just about everything. If the community wasn't so trash, the game would most likely be better.
