  • Summary: The Gnosia lie. Pretending to be human, they’ll get in close, trick and deceive, and then eliminate one victim at a time... Pretending to be human, they’ll get in close, trick and deceive, and then eliminate one victim at a time... The crew of a drifting spaceship, facing off against a mysterious and deadly threat known as the “Gnosia” and having no idea who among them is really the enemy, formulate a desperate plan for survival. The most suspicious among them will be put into “cold sleep” one by one, in an effort to rid the ship of Gnosia.

Gnosia is a Sci-Fi Social Deduction RPG in which you will engage in discussion with a variety of unique characters, with the aim of identifying the Gnosia among the group. Players will have to use what information they can gather during the discussions to ascertain whom they think is Gnosia and then vote to put them into cold sleep. As you progress, your abilities will improve - but so will those of the crew.
As the numbers of crew members, Gnosia, and various “roles” increase, it will become increasingly difficult to determine who is telling the truth. Work in collaboration with or against other crew members to ensure your survival until the end.

・Repeatedly play through “loops”, triggering special events to unravel mysteries in a uniquely original narrative. Certain events will unlock new commands for you to use during discussions.

・Step into a variety of roles to develop different character builds. Your stats will determine how effectively you can sway the group’s opinion or lie, and will also affect your likelihood of being selected for cold sleep.

・Engage with an engrossing and eclectic cast of characters and experience randomly triggered events, each one unique to its subject. Character events will reveal information about your crewmates in the form of special “Notes”.

Gnosia might not be a new concept – there are so many video games out there that feature death games with deception at the core of them. Last year’s Quantum Suicide even set the scene in space and had a less-than-benevolent AI pulling many of the strings, just like Gnosia does. But Gnosia is something rare: it is really, truly different. The developers wanted to take this common-enough concept and craft something that was truly their own, and not only have you got here a game that you won’t forget in a hurry, it’s also going to have you actively thinking about just how smart it is for some time to come.

Gnosia is outstanding. Its unconventional structure is definitely not for everyone though. Petit Depotto somehow crafted a social deduction RPG that smartly integrates a time travel mechanic almost flawlessly. The execution is inherently shaky due to its repetition, but it drives home the crestfallen feeling of being a time traveler for an extended amount of time so perfectly. By the time I finished the true ending, I felt so satisfied with what I accomplished along the way to get to that point.

Gnosia is more than just a visual novel game: It is a quest to help some characters discover universal truths. It allows players to break the boundaries of time and space, to move ahead and explore every single aspect of its expansive story.

By the time I finished Gnosia and reached the true ending, I had played 210 Loops, and I almost felt as though the game was dragging on. Still, I had fun with the numerous escapades I got into when I could play at a more leisurely pace, and the ending sequences made me feel as if the overall experience was worth it. It has been a while since I’ve played such a creative single-player visual novel, and I enjoyed my time experimenting with the various loops and getting to know an endearing cast of characters. This is a title I can easily recommend to gamers who are patient and looking for a solid, unique visual novel experience. Just be sure to start up an entirely new game save once you see the ending credits for the first time and then see what happens. …Trust me, okay? It is worth it!

We love experimental games, Gnosia is certainly experimental and a unique game with some brilliant programming to make it all work. Gnosia can't be a movie, or a book, or anything else, its made in such a way that only possible by using a video game format. Its repetitive in nature but still worth experiencing.

A hugely innovative single player social game, Gnosia blends Among Us with visual novels to create an entertaining (if slightly repetitive) experience.

Gnosia has a good proposal but its immersion is very shallow due to the limited responses that the characters return, making it difficult to say who lies and who speaks the truth. Maybe if they had voice acting, it could be more interesting.

It's addicting and fun, what more is there to ask for? The art style is also beautiful so that's an added bonus.

It's actually a scifi, time traveling adventure. It's a visual novel, disguised with slight gameplay elements to make what starts as an addictive way to play werewolf by yourself into a wonderful story that becomes difficult to put down as you wait to find out what will happen next.

So, the main gameplay loop is quite simple. You are with a group of people and two of those people are essentially bad guys. Your role as a group is to figure out who the bad guys is and attempt to vote them out. If you don't, they'll kill another person in the night and then it repeats the next day. At night, you get to interact with the rest of the crew and that's where a lot of the real story actually is.

The game has an art style that reminds me a bit of an anime like art style. The sounds are fine. The music is fine. The aesthetics are good and I like the scifi theme of it all. My only real issue is the gameplay itself. Since there's relatively limited dialogue options, it gets repetitive over several loops and part of the time you'll find yourself wanting to rush through the voting and the debate to get straight to the story afterwards.

Ultimately, this is not a game for everyone and if you are only wanting a single player mafia or werewolf like experience, you may actually be in for a disappointment, but if you are a fan of the anime art style, the scifi aesthetic, or just deep storying telling in a visual novel like experience then you'll probably want to pick this up.
