As you pick up stars you gain power, and eventually enough to crash into enemies and destroy them.

Considering the simple controls, the game has a surprising amount of depth, at times you need to avoid enemies only to come back later and destroy them. Sometimes going fast to keep multiplier active is a key to success. This game has a long history and I suspect the Switch version is more playable than the old Vita and VR versions of this game due to the controls, but some levels require a bit of trial and error and excellent timing to make it through, and it feels good when you do make it. Some levels are re-playable, but some are more like "finally made it and never again"-style.

Tip: The red mouth powerup allows you to go crazy eating enemies like the chomp in Mario.
