It brings nothing new in terms of gameplay, but Terminator: Resistance Enhanced has other tricks up its sleeve. Namely a decent story and some of the best use of license to a movie franchise in a long time. If you haven’t played the previous gen version, there’s no better jumping point than here.
No less janky or unambitious than its 2019 incarnation, Terminator: Resistance Enhanced offers up a mildly polished up experience that is augmented by some initially promising, but ultimately disappointing DLC. That said, for those that passed over the PS4 version of the game, Terminator: Resistance Enhanced nonetheless offers up a compelling slice of well-executed looter shooter goodness that fans of the motion picture saga will find enjoyable and fulfilling in equal measure.
This game does an excellent job capturing the first and second movie's atmosphere. Not only that, it explains and expands the lore of Terminator. The dim postapocalyptic world combined with great licenced music from the first two Terminator movies gives you the impression that you are actually a resistance soldier fighting Skynet with John Connor and Reese. When we were kids my friends and I were telling stories and pretending fighting Terminators and stuff. If only we could play this game back then, that would be too much excitement for as to handle. I can't be thankful enough to the Reef studios for making the wold of Terminator alive and giving me the opportunity to relive some of my best childhood memories.
I realy dug this game, we dont get many horror games with a good combat focus anymore. This game has elements of Dead Island , RE7 and Alien isolation, in my opinion and mixes aspect from those game very satisfyingly..
The production value is low unfortunatly, but they still msnage to make the world look artisticly awsome and the characters interesting.
I had trouble finding how this game performed on consoles.. PS4 its 1080p smooth 60 fps.. Xbox 1X its 4K very unstable at 60 , but fine at 30 and PS5 and PC it runs best.
I really look foward to this studios next game and hope they can get funded ..
Terminator: Resistance Enhanced it's a guilty pleasure, a game that it's not astonishing but it manages to hook the player up, even more if you love the first movies. It's not a technical marvel, and it's gameplay is not original, but when you start it... you'll probably get an entertaining ride.
While Enhanced can't hide Terminator: Resistance's budget origins, this is a solid licensed game that honors the franchise that spawned it. If you can overlook its budget-related flaws, this is a fairly enjoyable take on the Terminator license.
Apart from adaptive triggers or some improved visual effects, it is difficult to go into ecstasies in the face of a game that still offers gameplay and a technique that is ten years behind, and it is not very short infiltrated mode that will be a game-changer. However, Terminator Resistance is keeping everything that made it a decent game in 2019. With a price drop, fans and fans of the genre should enjoy it while they wait for more games to come their way.
Slighty improved over the PS4 edition, and
featuring the fun Infiltrator DLC, Terminator:
Resistance Enhanced never makes use of
PS5’s power. A missed opportunity. [Issue#2, p.88]
Terminator: Resistance Enhanced is a decent looking PS3 game that’s 10 years too late. It adds little value to the disappointing original release, and will only please hardcore fans of the movies.
My son, now 15, after watching the first two Terminator movies, remarked that he wished they focused more on what happens to the survivors in the future. Poland-based developer Teyon adheres to the canon of those films (while likely not being canon itself) with Terminator: Resistance, a game set thirty years after Judgment Day that provides one possible answer.
You may remember Teyon as the makers of another excellent licensed game, last year's RoboCop Rogue City. Resistance has a similar structure; a series of open levels, side missions, first-person shooting, big action set pieces, a between-mission hub area, NPCs to get to know, great gameplay and lots of loot. There's even some surface-level romance options. I had a great time with this and recommend it easily. It's very good.
The Good: The commitment to servicing the fans of Terminator 1 & 2 is abundantly present in the game's atmosphere, story, sound effects, music, weapons, and overall Terminator lore. The first person shooter & scavenging gameplay is passable enough to enjoy. The Bad: The lack of budget really shows with what they were able to do with the Unreal 4 game engine where other, more expensive games look & feel better. The character dialog animations are probably the worst part of the game. It would be hard to recommend this game to non-Terminator fans.
Terminator: Resistance Enhanced does have some minor improvements over vanilla Resistance, including a mode where you play as the Infiltrator, a new model of Terminator that can blend in with humans easier. Aside from that, it's pretty much the same game as the original, though I feel it ran bit smoother.
For the price, you get what you pay for. Great story actually, the writing is pretty good and makes you feel invested in some if the characters and their plight. Worth a shot for 50 bucks.
I basically only played this because it had easy trophies on the PlayStation 4 and was someone hoping for an improved experience. I was very disappointed because the game didn't seem to change at all besides adding a very mediocre mode that wasn't there before. It was already very mediocre on PlayStation 4 and now the trophies are glitched on the PlayStation 5 version so it has nothing to redeem it.
SummaryA standalone product and as a free upgrade for owners of the PS4 version. Features a range of graphical improvements as well as additional content.
