I enjoyed exploring the lonely old manor and its stark surroundings on the shores of Loch Ness. It's a suitably haunting setting for an ancient mystery with links to a more contemporary one.
It's a fairly even mix of the good—high production quality, some fun puzzles, pretty solid story—the bad—too linear, too easy, too many timed puzzles—and the ugly—the aforementioned underwater maze.
Personally, it would not be something I would buy unless I was heavily into puzzle adventure games and was itching to solve a Scottish mystery.
The sound effects are so realistic that one may wonder if the sound of geese is coming from the game or outside their own window.
To those who don't find timed sequences a game killer, the original story, unique locale, and ever-charming Alan Parker Cameron help make the game a memorable, though slightly tarnished, experience.
An engrossing detective story with lots of exploration opportunities. However, there is no truly outstanding or deeply innovative dimension of this release.
It’s like somebody at Wanadoo wondered just how little time they could put into a game and still release it, and Secret at Loch Ness is the result.
