I played their other game Apsulov first and loved it so had to try this. Its old but its truly horrifying and im Swede so i can confirm the folklore is accurate and i loved to see a game about it!
Impressive indie game.
For a horror game, all the criteria are good except the graphics, but good graphics aren't that important for horror games.
The story plot is quite good and have a nice aproach.
Unfortunally isn't too much unique, its a little bit generic.
Ending is really good in my opinion.
GOOD
Intriguing story. Amazing sound effects make for a very creepy atmosphere. Very good voice acting.
BAD
The scary atmosphere wears off towards the second part of the game and it sort of turns into a generic run, hide and avoid monster by learning its patterns game. Tops it off with a lackluster ending.
For an hardcore player of the horror genre, the game is just above average in all aspects. There are some creative things, but mostly it's just a mediocre copy of the Amnesia: Dark Descent. The most frustrating thing is, you can't change the controls !!!
SummaryUnforgiving - A Northern Hymn is a first person horror game heavily inspired by Swedish folklore and the Nordic mythology to create the nightmares that's been haunting Swedish children for many generations.
