It’s easy enough to create your own levels with the Wii U GamePad controller that it may feel like you’re simply sketching out your ideas on paper, but you can now bring enemies and objects into a playable course in ways you could only consider before. Violate the conventions of traditional Super Mario gameplay by blending enemies, traps and items into unexpected twists, like Piranha Plant-shooting cannons, power-up-tossing Lakitus, or even Hammer Bros. riding on Bowser while bouncing on trampolines. There are more flexible and expansive creative tools, but none as joyous or accessible as this. [Oct 2015, p.51]

Mario Maker is a must play for Wii U owners, whether they just want to make or play Mario levels. The interface is inviting and straightforward, and the way the game introduces its possibilities is amazing.

Super Mario Maker is a crazy fun way of taking your own spin on thirty years of Mario. It is very easy to use, you can switch between building and playing in an instance and the online experience of sharing levels with other people will keep you busy for an endless period of time.

Super Mario Maker is primarily an engine for circulating bad ideas and broken gimmicks as if there weren’t already an overabundance of them.

Super Mario Maker is a masterpiece that can be played and created for years to come! If you still don't own a Wii U and consider yourself a gamer, now is the time to switch over to pure gaming bliss! While the community has its fair share of bad, difficult, or troll levels, the amount of creativity that goes into the rest is absurd. You can do things you would never see in a mainline Mario game. There is always something to do, a new level to play, or a new idea to try out. If you still own a Wii U, this game is a must-have. Unless it comes out on Switch. (P.S. - Do NOT get Mario Maker for 3DS, as it does not have the Mystery Mushroom, and online level sharing is removed.) Expand

What an incredible game. If you haven't heard, Super Mario Maker allows you to create, play, and share Mario levels. To have the physics downWhat an incredible game. If you haven't heard, Super Mario Maker allows you to create, play, and share Mario levels. To have the physics down across 4 different Mario platforms, and the huge array of assets to build with makes this sandbox Mario game feel like something I could spent months or years with. I was floored with how much content is packed into the game. There are surprises and secrets around every corner. Are you in the Link costume? Push up, and you'll hold the triforce over your head. Want to shoot coins of a cannon instead of Bullet Bills? Just load it with coins. The creation tool is extremely flexible. I don't know just how great the community levels average out ot be, but they've been a blast thus far. Rarely do I hit a level I don't enjoy. If you have a Wii U, it's hard to come up with a single reason to skip this gem. Expand

If you enjoy Mario titles this is a must have. You can create, share and play, with endless possibilites and replay value. You're given all the tools you would expect, and then some. I am holding back on the 10 due to some minor but unforgiving things, such as the fact that you cannot make checkpoints in your levels. There is also no way to easily play levels created by your friends. These are only minor speed bumps though. Super Mario Maker is a fantastic game in so many ways, but it really makes you wonder why it took Nintendo 30 years to give us the opportunity to make our own levels. Expand

Super Mario Maker cant really be considered a game but more Nintendo trying to squeeze a couple more pounds from the big plumber. ThisSuper Mario Maker cant really be considered a game but more Nintendo trying to squeeze a couple more pounds from the big plumber. This laziness shows in lack of lack of freedom and gets boring fast. the community don't help either as most levels are extremely difficult and consist of hundreds of enemies and a secret hidden block so the creator can publish it. Or you stand still and watch Mario bounce from spring to spring until he reaches the flag. If you think that sounds fun be my guest pick it up but prepare to play most of the game with out touching the game pad Expand
