While the community has its fair share of bad, difficult, or troll levels, the amount of creativity that goes into the rest is absurd. You can do things you would never see in a mainline Mario game. There is always something to do, a new level to play, or a new idea to try out. If you still own a Wii U, this game is a must-have. Unless it comes out on Switch. (P.S. - Do NOT get Mario Maker for 3DS, as it does not have the Mystery Mushroom, and online level sharing is removed.)… Expand

If you haven't heard, Super Mario Maker allows you to create, play, and share Mario levels. To have the physics down across 4 different Mario platforms, and the huge array of assets to build with makes this sandbox Mario game feel like something I could spent months or years with. I was floored with how much content is packed into the game. There are surprises and secrets around every corner. Are you in the Link costume? Push up, and you'll hold the triforce over your head. Want to shoot coins of a cannon instead of Bullet Bills? Just load it with coins. The creation tool is extremely flexible. I don't know just how great the community levels average out ot be, but they've been a blast thus far. Rarely do I hit a level I don't enjoy. If you have a Wii U, it's hard to come up with a single reason to skip this gem.… Expand

It is a very accessible level creator that, in my view, could appeal to a variety of audiences, whether it be long-time Mario fans or budding game developers. The game also provides many pre-made levels for inspiration, in case you are running low on ideas. I'm not the most creative person out there, yet I have already sunk countless hours into this game making my own 2D Mario levels. Overall, an excellent level-creating game. Some more features would be nice (for example, checkpoints and more level themes), but Super Mario Maker is a game that I highly recommend.… Expand

Super Mario Maker cant really be considered a game but more Nintendo trying to squeeze a couple more pounds from the big plumber. This laziness shows in lack of lack of freedom and gets boring fast. the community don't help either as most levels are extremely difficult and consist of hundreds of enemies and a secret hidden block so the creator can publish it. Or you stand still and watch Mario bounce from spring to spring until he reaches the flag. If you think that sounds fun be my guest pick it up but prepare to play most of the game with out touching the game pad… Expand
