It’s easy enough to create your own levels with the Wii U GamePad controller that it may feel like you’re simply sketching out your ideas on paper, but you can now bring enemies and objects into a playable course in ways you could only consider before. Violate the conventions of traditional Super Mario gameplay by blending enemies, traps and items into unexpected twists, like Piranha Plant-shooting cannons, power-up-tossing Lakitus, or even Hammer Bros. riding on Bowser while bouncing on trampolines. There are more flexible and expansive creative tools, but none as joyous or accessible as this. [Oct 2015, p.51]

Mario Maker is a must play for Wii U owners, whether they just want to make or play Mario levels. The interface is inviting and straightforward, and the way the game introduces its possibilities is amazing.

Super Mario Maker is a crazy fun way of taking your own spin on thirty years of Mario. It is very easy to use, you can switch between building and playing in an instance and the online experience of sharing levels with other people will keep you busy for an endless period of time.

Super Mario Maker is primarily an engine for circulating bad ideas and broken gimmicks as if there weren’t already an overabundance of them.

The Nintendo 3DS version was the worst, but the Wii U version is the best ever!

If you haven't heard, Super Mario Maker allows you to create, play, and share Mario levels. To have the physics down across 4 different Mario platforms, and the huge array of assets to build with makes this sandbox Mario game feel like something I could spent months or years with. I was floored with how much content is packed into the game. There are surprises and secrets around every corner. Are you in the Link costume? Push up, and you'll hold the triforce over your head. Want to shoot coins of a cannon instead of Bullet Bills? Just load it with coins. The creation tool is extremely flexible. I don't know just how great the community levels average out ot be, but they've been a blast thus far. Rarely do I hit a level I don't enjoy. If you have a Wii U, it's hard to come up with a single reason to skip this gem. Expand

BUT, there are a few things I have to address. First of all, a minor problem, is that you cant easily find your friends' courses. second of all, a BIG problem, is that a ton of stuff is locked from the start. Including the premade levels. you have to spend time in the editor to unlock new stuff. I had spent 3 HOURS in the editor until I unlocked my first sample level. the same thing goes for editor items too, but to a lesser extent. but overall those problems effected me little from creating fun levels and sharing them with the world. it's worth it. even with the problems. This was probably one of the coolest ideas of this console generation. It controls better than the sequel too.

Super Mario Maker cant really be considered a game but more Nintendo trying to squeeze a couple more pounds from the big plumber. ThisSuper Mario Maker cant really be considered a game but more Nintendo trying to squeeze a couple more pounds from the big plumber. This laziness shows in lack of lack of freedom and gets boring fast. the community don't help either as most levels are extremely difficult and consist of hundreds of enemies and a secret hidden block so the creator can publish it. Or you stand still and watch Mario bounce from spring to spring until he reaches the flag. If you think that sounds fun be my guest pick it up but prepare to play most of the game with out touching the game pad Expand
