Taking many tropes from the Metroidvania sub-genre of games, and adding a mechanic all of its own, The Swapper succeeds in creating an interesting world to explore and challenging puzzles to conquer amidst one of the most atmospheric backdrops ever put to a video game.

Even though it’s a little on the short side considering the asking price, it would be a shame to miss out on the rich experience it offers.

But the core gameplay—puzzle-solving with clones—is distinctly enjoyable. In a way, it reminded me of the Clank puzzles in Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time, but on a 2D plane. If that kind of puzzle-solving is up your ally, I’d give The Swapper a try.

Tough and demanding, this will will get the players to think strategically thanks to its simple but well implemented conditions and limits throughout the levels.

I didn't see much footage of this game myself. I asked my friend today and he said his friend had really high comments on this game. I knew what the game was about. I just bought it today on Wii U and I can easily say, it's the best damn Indie Game this year, hands down! Just a phenomenal experience for me. And I especially cannot wait for this to come FREE on PSN in January which the saves will continue over from PS4 to Vita and even to PS3 if I'm correct. I may even buy this on PC! Perfect indie game. Beautiful visuals and stunning musical atmosphere in the game. Having the Wii U gamepad is a huge bonus and the map really helps. By the looks of it, the Wii U has the best experience for this game. It's just incredible! It's a clever puzzle game that really has you thinking. Please bring this to the Nintendo 3DS! Expand

Beautifully designed art, atmospheric music and excellent voice acting help create the perfect dark vibe; an environment you want to keep exploring. The puzzles make clever use of the cloning mechanic -- although they can be quite difficult, there's a real sense of satisfaction when you solve them. Controls and limits feel smart and fair. I love games that don't rush me, and this one is entirely self-paced, with many possible solutions and paths. Fans of the early Metroid games should dig this, and won't find the back-tracking annoying -- liberal use of teleporters helps limit repeated traveling through the same areas. Incredible value on sale for $12, and still worth it for $20. What a stellar addition to the Wii U indie library. Expand

Its just proof that you dont have to spend 60 dollars on a quality gaming experience. The puzzles are engaging and also somewhat difficult at times but it keeps you locked in and ready to figure it out. So many games I play lately lose me very early on in the gameplay but this 5 dollar game (on sale) keeps me coming back and for that I thank the creators. Expand
