As a 40-something year old man, it takes a lot for a pc game to interest me. I was raised in an age when video games were played on a tv set at the weekend, and only if the weather was too bad to play outside.
So it says something, I think, that World Of Guns: Gun Disassembly has, for the last six months, prevented me from getting as much gardening done as I would like.
World Of Guns, in a nutshell, is a three dimensional, interactive, animated Haynes manual for guns.
You have the ability to field strip, assemble and disassemble a large and growing collection of firearms, painstakingly recreated down to the last nut and bolt.
Along the way you earn points, experience and badges for various achievements relating to each gun, with speed, accuracy and concentration being the key attributes required to work your way up the ranks.
In "Operation" mode, you can fire the weapon and study its beautifully detailed inner workings, revealed in action by using a "cutaway" and "X-ray" view. You can in addition use the "click to hide" button, which allows you to make any part of your choice invisible, giving you a customised window on the area you wish to view.
As if this weren't enough, you can slow down the action by up to fifty times, allowing a thorough understanding of how the weapons various mechanisms work together. And "plastic" mode colours the parts, yielding yet more clarity.
All in all, a thoroughly addictive and beautifully rendered "game". I use inverted commas because although it has a gaming element to it, World Of Guns is as much an instruction and operating manual as it is a game.
One thing I'd like to point out, and that is the number of comments I've seen by players who complain that they have to pay to buy points and guns, else they have to work for ages to get what they need.
My response to this criticism is: It's a game! So what if you have to spend hours to get what you need? If you aren't prepared to put in the time and effort, perhaps this game is not for you. I suspect many of these comments come from youngsters who have been brought up in a world where they expect everything immediately without having to try too hard.
So, hats off to the people behind World Of Guns: Gun Disassembly. And here's to their future; I sincerely hope they go from strength to strength.
Excelente!!
For what's it's basically meant for, it does a good job. You learn about all the different parts in a specific gun and how they operate together to make the gun function. One of the things people complain about is that the game has this pay to play option which is 'required' to play other cool stuff quicker and just play them in general. Yeah, I think it **** to. But, it's a free to play, so they have to make money somehow. Still, it's a pretty cool 'sim' and you should try it,
Peccato che per avere tutti i modelli bisogni pagare, perché mi piace tantissimo l'impegno che ci mettono per portare nuovi modelli abbastanza frequentemente.
