Sundered takes the indie, Metroidvania genre to new heights while showing just how good these types of experiences can be. Great gameplay could have carried this game far enough, but Thunder Lotus once again went for hand drawn art and the result is truly remarkable.
Sundered is an enjoyable journey that iterates upon the Metroidvania style in ways that are both satisfying and substantial. Its progression systems are constantly fulfilling and combat is complex and exhilarating. While rare moments of unfair circumstances hold it back, Sundered remains a compelling and rewarding experience that you’ll be eager to play again, if only to seek out its other endings or to simply to wipe out another swarm of grotesque creatures.
With its smooth combat, rewarding exploration, and pulse-pounding battles, Sundered is worth a look from fans of Metroid and Castlevania. Though technical issues muddled my enjoyment and the punishing difficulty can lead to fits of frustration, Sundered brings an exciting and noteworthy experience to a crowded genre.
Sundered is a game with great graphics but uninspired and monotonous design. The unfair difficulty and the poor handling of enemy distribution make Sundered a missed opportunity.
Super fun game. Intense and fun action, smooth gameplay, perfect challenge level, great skills and mechanics progression, satisfying passive tree, interesting choices with a non-intrusive splash of story. No need for google searches, just keep playing until you find where to go.
I'm an old school gamer, and a dad, and I don't have much time to play these days, so most games I try last about 15 minutes. But this one I hungrily played to the end and will probably play it again. I cannot wait for the next title from Thunder Lotus! Keep it up guys, you rock!
You know what I like? Challenging games. You know hard and demanding, but fair and fun. Sundered is not like this. This game shut you in little room and throw horde of baddies at you, and you can't even tell what the hell happen. You can't fight with them, becouse combat system is so poor and limited, that you only mash one button, until your thumb is bleeding. This is not how diffucult but fair game should looks like. This is how lazy, unfair and frustraiting crap looks like.
Uninspired story, enemies, and level design. Player spends most of the time running through empty, generic rooms, occasionally interrupted by swarms of enemies you mash the "x" button at. Nothing feels rewarding or interesting,
SummarySundered is a horrifying fight for survival and sanity, a hand-drawn epic from the creators of Jotun. Resist or embrace ancient eldritch powers. You play Eshe, a wanderer in a ruined world, trapped in ever-changing caverns filled with hordes of terrifying enemies.
