Supraland has come out of nowhere and absolutely blown me away. Taking inspiration from some of the best games ever, it manages to somehow blend them all together into a cohesive whole, constantly surprising and delighting us in equal measure. Combat is a bit weak, and the solutions can at time be a bit too obtuse, but these are small blemishes on what is otherwise an incredibly fun adventure that is funny, rewarding and something that’ll keep us coming back for sometime yet. That it also launched on Gamepass means that it’ll hopefully gain the love and success it clearly deserves.

Supraland is simply one of the best sandbox games I’ve ever played. It perfectly embodies the term, letting players define their experience. The only shortcomings in this title are some generic and lackluster character and item designs, but that’s a nitpick when stacked against everything Supraland has to offer. The gameplay feels like a love letter to a laundry list of classic games, doing justice to all of them. Supraland is a must-play game for fans of the open world.

Supraland on Xbox One may be simplistic and a tad easy overall, but don’t let first impressions fool you. Its focus on exploratory gameplay makes it loads of fun to play. What results from it is a well-rounded, entertaining adventure which is one of the best experiences of its kind available today.

Supraland pushes boundaries to try to create something unique, and for the most part, it succeeds with gusto. It’s a game where you really feel like you’re exploring someone’s imagination; a hodgepodge of wonderful ideas that combine together well to create a delightful experience. Its combat may feel superfluous, but its excellent puzzle design and beautiful world more than makes up for it.

If I come off angry it’s because clearly the developers of Supraland know how to make a great game, but I grew so tired of the more obtuse puzzles that I got to the volcano and quit. It just wasn’t fun anymore. In conclusion it’s the puzzles being such a big focus of this game but seemingly such a small focus of the development that I can’t recommend this game. Sure, others might get a kick out of it, but to me it doesn’t work as a puzzle game, the combat isn’t there enough to really comment on outside of it being okay, and the exploration is hampered by the puzzles so ultimately Supraland is a puzzle game that doesn’t really work. When the puzzles are good they still aren’t great, and that’s unfortunate.

The puzzles get a little tricky at times, but when I figure them out I feel stupid because it was far simpler than I thought it was.
Plenty of gameplay to be had, with lots of chill exploring to do.

Explore, solve puzzles, beat up monsters, find secret upgrades and new abilities that help you reach new places. Can you imagine it? There's a free demo for the game publishers being kind to check it out prior to buying. Supraland embraces creativity, functioning primarily as an FPS puzzler akin to Portal. While there are no portals in Supraland, the game deploys a similar design philosophy, giving players a few simple tools which are then expanded upon through clever use of the environment. Blending a number of genres and styles together makes Supraland feel like a hodgepodge of a product, but a glorious hodgepodge indeed. This is because the game’s various elements all feel well-executed and implemented into the game independently. Exploding groups of enemies with energy blasts feels just as satisfying as going sword-to-sword in old-fashioned combat. It's harder to write about good ones because you just can't help yourself about writing all the details you see yet I'll be cutting it to chase and this game is a game that's worth.the price of admission and deserves your time. I can fully recommend that you add this one to your Xbox One library ASAP!. Expand

    A little too much puzzle…
I love Supraland but I hate it just as much as I love it.. you play as a red stick figure that sets out to confront the blue kin cause the blue squad is out here messing with red teams water… and instantly I fellin love with this game.. this in an open wolrd set inside of a sandbox puzzle platformer game.. for the first couple of hours I was so immersed in this world, collecting couns for upgrds, searching for all of its secret chests.. again for upgrades.. and I don’t just mean cash.. these chests have permanent upgrades making them actually worth hunting down and making it super addictive to explor. I love this.. howver after the first world.. Supraland turns into an action version or portal.. on top of that, this is a first person metroidvania in a way…and you might think that sounds amazing.. but what makes portal so manageable for someone like me thts super imapatients when they play video games like this, is that portal is linear, not in an open world… and also theres a super intriguing nd hilarious story to go along with it pulling you through.. and while supraland definitely has a little charm here.. there definitely isn’t drag players to end end level of charm… so sadly a gamethat started out as a great, puzzle platformer with some of the best adventure aspects ive ever played.. turns into a drug out slog of switch puzzle after puzzle to solve… and this is when supraland started to lose me.. But I am very aware this is a personal gripe against this game.. this is a great puzzle game, if you go into spraland being fine that it ultimately is an open world puzzle game with more emphasis on the puzzle as it goes on, you will be pleased with all of the bonus aspects it throws at you… as again its so addictive to upgrade your character as you make it through this 11 hour long journey…
I for one am definitely not one for puzzles, I can only deal with them if theyre really good, clever, or unique… I don’t seek out puzzle games just for the sake of it..
So while I can appreciate that Supraland is a hidden gem puzzle game definitely owrth your attention if you are a puzzle fan… it was just something that struggled to keep my intrigue or attention…
    I give Supraland
    a 7.5/10
